"You cannot pass legislation and magically get rid of some sort of undesirable behavior. Making a service or product illegal does not squash the demand for said product or service. Prohibition only forces these products and services into the black market. The undesired product or service is then provided by criminals who rely on violence to resolve disputes and in the case of prostitution meet consumer demand. While the effects of these vices may be harmful to the individuals involved, it isn’t even on the same comparative scale as the negative effects of the prohibition of these vices. Prohibition has caused the US to have the highest incarceration rate of the entire world. Prohibition is a policy that has ruined and ended millions of lives" www.againstallaggression.com...
Despite the millions upon millions of dollars the government has spent arresting "victimless criminals" and housing them in prison, drug use has failed to decline. After you take into account that prohibition is responsible for creating a market that is responsible for the cartels, you can't help but wonder how such idiotic legislation even exist. And that goes for prohibition of anything. Prostitution, drugs, alcohol, gambling, porn, guns, you name it.

And the court systems everywhere are corrupted because of this. Prosecutors will use entrapment strategies to get felony convictions by bending the laws since those are worth more money to the court system. They use creative prosecutorial strategies in order to make as much money as they can, and guilt is always assumed before the trial even begins. Juries are brainwashed into it, except good defense lawyers can "correct" these things during trials with good counter arguments, and in many cases, get outright case dismissals.

Prohibition has ruined the entire country in so many different ways.

Prohibition never works 100 percent -- what does? -- because there will always be various black markets where people can find things if they're motivated enough. However, prohibition can work to generally reduce the overall amount of something happening, with small enough bits left over for the outliers and criminals that it doesn't cause any huge problems and the majority of good, decent citizens can feel safe.

If you're a politician looking for votes, you're not going to care about what the beatniks and hippies and other lowlife deviants want. You want to give the moms and dads and good, God-fearing church folk what they want because they pay taxes and vote.

Remember. Evil = anything that might interfere with safe, peaceful reproduction.

People should be allowed to make unfettered consensual trades without Government involvement. If I want to barter for a plant, distilled plant product or bang item I should have the right to do so. There is no crime against person or property therefore there is no crime.

Until you get unlimited money out of elections and lobbying, you won't see a national change. Privatizing prisons thereby turning the housing of citizens in jail a profitable industry, that industry will pour huge amounts of money to keep unpopular and outdated laws on the books and they will push for new ones. They will push for longer prison terms &mandatory minimums to keep their prisons fuller longer.

Turning citizens into criminals and profiting from keeping them behind bars is a sick and twisted concept that should terrify every citizen of the country.

The industry will continue to buy Congressmen and Senators to help them keep their prisons full and their profits flowing.

I completely agree if theres no victim there is no crime. The idea that vices should be a crime is ridculous. If anything is criminal it is locking up people for having the wrong plant matter or chemical.

*puts hand up*

Steroids too!

Oddly,in the USA,steroids are a class 3 drug and being nicked for having or selling them may land you in prison for some time, even though they aren't particularly dangerous...more strange is that you can have testosterone prescribed by a doctor, which is fine.

Why they aren't just legalised is beyond me.

Oh, and it is a-coming for fire arms.

When it does, it will likely lead to something this nation hasn't seen in 150 years.

Perhaps that's the reason why they are prohibiting it in the first place.
