So what if he was Muslim. I guarantee that almost every other religion or group out there has had an altercation on a plane. But it's worse because he's a Muslim, right?

No, not that it's worse. The article points out that more minor offenses on planes have occurred in the previous weeks, and have all been in the news except this one. And to your point, the fact that it wasn't reported on apparently was just because he was Muslim. [SNIPPED]

I've found out about worse incidents by reading aviation sites because they weren't in the media and none of the people involved were Muslim.

He wasn't trying to blow up a plane. It was just a clock he built.

heeheeheeheehee

Because there were successful terrorists who were muslims means that there will always be some fear about muslim plane bombers. It's human nature. If I were muslim, I'd be royally pissed about it.

A person went "nuts in an American airplane"? and that he was a Muslim foreigner and an immigrant is irrelevant?

Like what? we don't have enough national crazies in the US? we have to import them too? this the type of people we are letting come to our nation, so they can use their craziness against American citizens?

I guess finding this odd, that is been off the media is not important I most be an islamophobic.

The funny part is no one is saying that but you.

You want to talk about a divide but your post is probably the most divisive post on the thread so far. Ironic.

I'm the only one with the guts to say it.

Political correctness,
which is denial of free speech
leads to those who are being told
to shut up or else,
becoming angry.
When told your ideas and
thoughts don't matter and ours
are the only correct thoughts
and ideas one should have,
that makes people angry.

PC is extremely divisive
and causing anger at being
told to shut up or you are
a racist or whatever ist,
simply shuts down discussion
and causes resentment.

By saying, you can't say that,
or else, one is being a bully
and eventually the bullied
fight back and the result isn't
pretty. It only makes matters
far, far, far worse in the long
run.

Interesting, I have the guts to
say it like it is without resorting
to calling people ists
or swearing at them
or calling them names
The PC crowd doesn't like that
for sure, this bullied person
will stay silent no longer when
being relentlessly bullied by
the PC thought and speech police.

so....if he is a Muslim, and a passenger on a American airline, with everything that is happened in this country in the recent past, why would he say he was going to blow up the plane?....would an American Caucasian say that while in midflight?...would an American Asian say that while in midflight?...would a Black American say that while in midflight?...would a Latino American say that while in midflight?....

So it's worse if a foreigner does it on an American owned aircraft?

So now we should start labeling people that go nuts. "Christian attacks flight attendant". "Catholic makes bomb threat against flight". Would that make you happy?

Oh right, Muslims are the only evil religious nuts so it's important that we label them.

EXACTLY! It's articles in the OP, written how they are written, that contribute to growing specter of Islamophobia rising in this country and now even Europe.

And it would not matter if they did, it wouldn't make them terrorists either. It would make them disgruntled and crazy passengers with some kind of mental issue I would imagine.

But I can tell you right now that if were a middle aged white guy who did that, nobody would have wrote a story wondering why the media wasn't talking about Catholic Terrorism among flyers.

It's happened before. Flight attendants finding notes in the lavatory that there's a bomb on board, messages turned in to the crew, people calling bomb threats in, etc. Muslims don't have the market on saying stupid things on a plane.

Maybe you need to look at the definition yourself.

2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization

Now look up the word terrorization [Which when you spell it here comes up as misspelled and cannot be looked up without hitting the hyper link in your link. I use the same dictionary online as you do] Here is what I got.

to fill or overcome with terror.
2.
to dominate or coerce by intimidation.
3.
to produce widespread fear by acts of violence, as bombings.

So by your definition this man was a terrorist. Lets face it, this should just be some jerk assaults and mouths off to a flight crew member. But it is not, as the fact he was Muslim requires it to be looked at with more attention. Like I said other groups are constantly being lumped in with crazies doing something wrong but because this particular crazy is Muslim it's all "nothing to see here." No more of this double standard.

The point is that the word "terrorism" only comes up in discussion of a Muslim's crimes. Why aren't you arguing to label Dylan Roof a terrorist? He actually DID have a political objective for his actions.

Look, no one and I repeat NO ONE is defending this Muslim's actions on the plane, but to label the actions as terrorism with the limited information we have on the case just shows a predilection to bias against Muslims and being terrorists.

I read the OP and the source piece, and have to say that I have come to the conclusion that the real issue here is that you believe the "liberal media" is wrong because they were not as sensational or made as much of a fuss about the man's religion as the Right-Wing media does.

Isn't that what this boils down to?

well, I for one, get your point.....generalizations are not needed, and are harmful.....I just have a feeling, coming from what has happened in several European countries already, that the level of concern should not be dismissed lightly.

Any time something like this happens it should be taken seriously regardless of who was involved. All it takes is one nut with the right resources and they WILL get past any security system in place anywhere, except maybe Israel.

Ah yes, the liberal media at work again. I heard about the the flight which turned back to LAX the other day because a man allegedly choked a woman for reclining her seat. But the again, no Muslims involved, so they could talk about that. The double standard is troubling but not surprising.

Oh! my God, that's awful! So are you saying Muslims are going to be attacking aircraft all the time once the Democrats get in..once again...just like they did in G.W.'s tenure.

You do have to feel sorry for Trump though, he won't get to meet the US's royal family...the Bin Ladens.

And rumour has it, he wanted to open a few casinos in Saudi too...Oh! deary me, this is awful.

Muslim fundamentalists, the Quran, and teachers in Muslim madrassas (schools) believe, that if you are not a Muslim and you won't convert to one, then you are to be killed...I don't hear that coming from Catholics, Jews, Taoists, Hindus, atheists, Protestants, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, or any other Christian religion....so....yeah...pointing out the fact that he was Muslim (in my opinion) holds some weight and is a concern of mine.
