Look at the drug use among the poor and underprivileged as the world is now. The depression, alcoholism, drug use and suicide. Now....imagine most of the planet in that same situation.

What will happen will be the same that has happened in history.

Just look at USSR as an example: mass starvation and lots of crime.

Most everyone except for the rich, and probably government officials will be in the same boat. If the U.S. economy collapses, it will affect the world economy.

The direction of the world's economic system is heading for a brick wall. Think about this... when you were a kid growing up playing the game Monopoly, one person wins and the rest go bankrupt. So what did we do? We ended the game and started over! There's really no way out of this mess and there's no light at the end of the tunnel. The only way I see the world getting out of this calamity is to come to an agreement on world wide debt forgiveness. The entire system needs to have a complete overhaul and laws need to be set in place to prevent governments from falling into debt.

When you really look at it, it's just paper money! Monetary value is only what we place on it. The world sets the rules. Together we can also end the game!

Starting over can only improve living conditions, free up the welfare system and help people around the world. We can't continue to have a huge disparity within the working class. The mentality surrounding the worlds economic system only makes the few live off the sweat and blood of the majority.

Those on welfare will riot. It will not be pretty if benefits are suddenly cut off. You will see a lot of violence, looting, and rioting.

There have been cases where glitches have resulted in people not being able to get food stamps for a day or two and it nearly caused a riot. Just imagine what happens on a large scale if benefits are suddenly cut off.

Chaos and mayhem... pillaging and plundering.

Within days.

On a mass scale.

In the event of a major economic overnight collapse, everyone will only have a timeframe of just a few days to gather their belongings and get out of dodge OR prepare to bunker down and try to ride out the worst of it, before the riots fully kick in.

Once all of the businesses have been looted and plundered, people's homes will become the new target. Civilians will be sitting in front of their windows late at night, peeking through the curtains keeping a watchful eye for predators in an attempt to protect what little they have left.

The chaos and mayhem will be quickly followed by military/police intervention and street patrolling.
Martial law and curfews would be enacted and enforced almost right away.

So-called "rights" and "freedoms" will be taken away from every citizen (by force if necessary) in order to maintain some form of control over the populace at all times.

And either one of two things will happen:

Citizens will comply and disengage, or they will get worse by growing in numbers and eventually overrun the police and military by way of population numbers. If the latter happens, it will become like every apocalyptic movie we've ever watched.

Either way, it will not be a pretty picture.

Time to stock up on the three A's:

Heh.

I've got the alphabet covered up to about the letter "M" so far.

But I'm finding the letter "N" a little more difficult to complete...

I had no idea that nitrous oxide would be so hard to come by, it seems dentists have no sense of humour when it comes to giving away the goods.

Pfft.

Whoah, go steady there, I just bought Fury Road and I haven't seen it yet, telling me what's in the film.
In answer to Augustus. cats and dogs living together. No, no cats and dogs together on the barbeque.
More doom porn on view. Let's be clear even if there was a crash it would have virtually no impact on the majority of people. Look to history, Germany in the 20s was in total monetary collapse, yes there were hardships but there was not masses of people dying of starvation (please don't bring the Facists into the discussion as they didn't cause the problem). Italy has seen similar events of monetary collapse and they lived to tell the tale. The same thing was contrived in Greece last year, yes there was small outbreaks of trouble, but the country has recovered.
Yes, the money people can make it appear to be a problem, yes they can make it hard for the lower echelons of society but in the long term they cannot keep this allusion going for long as their main wealth is generated by the lower classes.
Just remember if the lower classes were eradicated and only the mega-rich survived who would the lower class be then?
Those with a few millions compared with the billionaires.

How about napalm? Or nutmeg? People don't realise the potential of nutmeg. Powder it and blow it into the face of an assailant, Better than CS gas.

I'm a Canadian.

I prefer to watch someone laugh themselves to death.

It's an event worthy of consuming at least one 12-pack of Alexander Keith's Red Amber Ale whilst observing the process of a slow painful death.

Oh, that's easy then. Get someone to get a bag of powdered nutmeg, empty their lungs and suck in a cloud of powder. you will laugh yourself to death with their eyes coming out like chapel hatpegs, go bright red to shades of purple and suffer paroxisms on the floor. But it wont kill them.... Except if they have a weak heart or other health abnormality.
You said you were struggling with the n.

Who cares? In the event of a massive economic collapse, we'll all just be worried about ourselves.

The government solution? Soylent Green.

What will happen to the welfare state? it will become bigger much bigger.
Poor people won`t even notice an economic collapse, they are already poor.
The 1% won`t notice it either they have so much money that even if they lost 90% of it they would still be uber rich.
so, that only leaves the people in the middle who will notice it the most and be hurt the most.

The government may stop giving out money but everyone will be taken care of on a bare basic level of existence.
During a state of emergency the government now has the legal right to confiscate all food, water, electricy, gas, heating oil, everything.
The government will take it all and ration out all those things to all the newly impoverished people.rations will be barely enough to keep you alive but on the bright side the obesity epidemic in America might finally be cured.
