Germany has announced more problems for the Typhoon fleet. They have restricted them from flying with external fuel tanks after the right tank fell off an aircraft while it was waiting to take off.

The aircraft involved in the incident has been grounded while an investigation occurs. It was preparing to launch on a patrol over the Baltic at the time. The restriction means that aircraft flying patrols won't have the range or loiter time they had because they can only fly on internal fuel.

I wonder which wing it was?

I'm guessing it will be an Italian made wing that it fell off.

They haven't given many details. There are rumors that there are torque issues involved, but it's still in the preliminary stages of the investigation.

I'm assuming that the whole pylon has fallen off the wing if it a torque issue

That's what it sounds like. I'm trying to find out more, but there isn't much right now. Maybe over the weekend.
