I guess the last holdout was Saudi, but now they are cozying up to Russia now.

Russia and their allies can do two things here.

Flood the market, and destroy western oil companies or hold the world hostage with sky high prices.

Oh and the dollar/oil per barrel is gone if they wanted too.

Meanwhile the West is playing checkers going 'king' me.

Yup. All the while the US and Russia use their middle eastern pawns to secure their precious resources. Guaranteed US exit from the mid east once oil is no longer the predominant source of its energy. There will be nothing left for that region to offer except death and destruction. I say let the animals eat each other up once we're out.

They were defeated by dirt farming in reds in Afghanistan less than 3 decades ago...and their government subsequently collapsed and a coup was launch(albeit unsuccessfully).

Russia was there for nine years and Afghanistan had help from America. We have been there for longer and who is helping Afghanistan now?

Given the methodology they have used, it seems Russia is only pushed up to second because of their huge Oil reserves. It also seems to rank Russia highly because they have "15,398" battle tanks - totally ignoring the fact much of them are outdated and outclassed by other MBT's. The same goes with the Naval and Air power - yes, they might have more aircraft for example but ignores the quality.

Russia like America are the leaders when it comes to new weapons tech not to mention some of the best training available.

Personally I think the leaders of Saudi Arabia hate everyone. They play nice when it benefits them. With the US backing down they know better then to provoke Russia.

Hmm so living somewhere makes you an expert? Are you a political science major? Or did you peak out your window and know everything. And what does living in Isreal have to do with ancient Jerusalem. Palestinians are far from the first settlers. They are immigrants just like the jews. In fact everyone everywhere are immigrants to their homeland.

The ignorance spouted off by the people riding putins little weiner waiting for it to go off is ridiculous. Fact is he wouldn't spend one dime on an offensive campaign unless he thought the return would be greater. Everyone last one of you are blind.

I guess we can't get over the Yugo. They haven't proven much since the fall of the Soviet Union so I don't see how one could think that they've magically turned it all around. Russia is actually still considered a developing country.

Who are we kidding here? The US knew what Russia's plans were. Too bad Russia doesn't have many other friends left so Crimea and Syria is where their silly games end.

I read this again the other day:

The Balfour declaration letter of 1917:

"His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine .."

Exactly and here's a little more info to back up how pathetic Russia is. Read the facts. Russia steals Crimea from the Ukraine, a country who shares identical ethnicities and is incredibly weak and unstable. Wow. Impressive Russia. Attack and kill your own people. How heroic of you.

Ukraine=Russia's own failed attempt at a coup.

This puzzle is easy:

Russia helps Syria/Assad. Syria with the backing of the UN and Russia asserts it's rights to the illegally seized Golan Heights property from the 1967 '6 day war'. There is massive oil findings in Golan Heights which will be profitable for both Syria and Russia. This is bad for the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Anything else is just window dressing; we are seeing the shut down of the greater Israel project.
