Agreed. Putin backed down from Merkel before she even had time to put on her favorite boxing sports bra. Is all the US has to do is put their foot down. Let the Russians play their little games. They always lose. Always. It's entertaining to read the news articles coming from Russia. They are so desperate to convince the world that they're not suffering internally. Always will be a 3rd world country. They are bleeding economically and now they spend what little they have to defend countries that have very little economic value in the long run. The only reason Syria and Russia are friends is because no one else will be friends with them. Once the US gets out of the oil game Russia won't even matter. It's already happening right now.

Russia needs to mend it's trade relationships or else they are forever doomed.

Eventually, I think the Russian people are going to start getting weary of Putin's military involvement in other countries. When they start experiencing more and more of their son's and daughters being sacrificed for his own power ego, it may result in a backlash by his own citizens.

Than again, the U.S. involvement in the Middle East and the loss of military personnel haven't ruffled any feathers here.

A questionable list, at best - it ranks Russia as second, but why? They have limited capability to project power, much of their army is poorly trained conscripts using mostly 70's/80's era machinery, the CnC is still the outdated model used during the Cold War.

Given the methodology they have used, it seems Russia is only pushed up to second because of their huge Oil reserves. It also seems to rank Russia highly because they have "15,398" battle tanks - totally ignoring the fact much of them are outdated and outclassed by other MBT's. The same goes with the Naval and Air power - yes, they might have more aircraft for example but ignores the quality.

It's evident that Putin doesn't have the interests of people in mind with this move. As much as I support a Palestinian state I don't support Russian or American intervention.

Let the Middle East fix their own problems. I tired of friends returning in coffins.
