I have spent some time here (basically reading without contributing) and now I'm able to acknowledge that I definitely like this place.

Speaking of the English-speaking countries, I've been to Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Port Douglas), to the USA (NY, San Diego, Santa Monica), and to England (London). So I have my own tiny impressions about these countries.

I'm at thirtysomething, married, educated in economics. My strongest desires are music (I play electric guitar), calisthenics and reading.

Ask me anything, my answers are going to be my best contribution to this wonderful forum.
P.S. I apologize in advance for my imperfect English.

This is what's great about the world wide web, getting other perspectives we would only get from main stream media. This is what makes us all more informed! Welcome, I look forward to your perspectives on the current conflict in Syria.

Welcome and don't worry about the English . Even we English speaking people struggle with it at times and claim our own versions depending what country we live in . The Brits invented it but us Canuk's perfected it eh .

Awesome! Will be great to have someone who lives there to explain how things are from your perspective, rather than just reading MSM.

Welcome!

Welcome!

В кулаке все пальцы равны.

It will be nice to add some sanity. To bad about the California part...I have been there too, we are not all like that.

Welcome, I look forward to your perspectives on the current conflict in Syria.

Thank you! Well, of course it's complicated. My view is simple (I'm not an expert in geopolitics), Russia's participation in this conflict has two main purposes. The first one is economical (oil prices, gas pipelines), and the second one is political (attempts to resist unipolar world).

Well first thing is welcome to ATS.
So just wondering about your thoughts on Ukraine?

It's pretty simple.

During the struggle for power in Ukraine those who were the most convenient for the powers that be had succeeded. Their task was to give away the country's sovereignty in exchange for the opportunity to continue to loot it.

The government of Russia, in turn, used the legal (although I'm not an expert in international law) possibility to save the Republic of Crimea from this plan.

But at the same time the Russian government didn't do the same thing in Eastern Ukraine. So the Ukranian government still tries to take control over the region by any means (including the economic blocade).

Thousands are dead in this war, the lives of tens of thousands of people destroyed, hundreds of thousands suffer.

Musicians: John Surman, Steve Vai, Kimmo Pohjonen, Jeff Beck, Eminem, David Lang, Djivan Gasparyan. Talvin Singh, Zakir Hussain, Ananda Shankar, Sam Zaman.
Bands: Tool, Pantera, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Extreme.
Always happy to listen to Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey. By the way, I was really impressed by Lana Del Rey tracks (the arrangements, the ambience and the mood, etc.).
I appreciate the works of Carbon Based Lifeforms and other good ambient (and psychill/psybient or whatever they call it) musicians and bands.

I used to play alternative/modern metal with my band few years ago. Now I'm working on something different, more experimental.
