Agreed.
Think of 70's and 80's Britain, the place is overwhelmingly better morally and culturally these days.

Gay men were routinely beaten just for being gay and people turned a blind eye.
It was not illegal for men to rape their wives.
Racist imagery and narratives were rife in the 3 channel TV media.
Police would routinely beat suspects in their holding cells or elsewhere.
Safeguarding of children legislation was yet to be invented.
Bouncers would beat the # out of you before the kicked you out of nightclubs.

I could go on, but as far as the OP is concerned, it may be horrible where he/she lives, but I assert that the moral fabric of UK society has vastly improved in my lifetime, and continues to improve, even if a loud but small percentage remain scumbags.
