But what about the recent school killer I know some will say, well that is one nutjob It isn't happening in the USA or the UK all the time just once.

Actually this is the second mass murder of Christians in less than 3 months... the folks in Charleston weren't just black ya know.

My ass, Charleston was racial.

You know how those complaining about atrocities against Christians would actually be taken seriously? If they were actual atrocities like we see, for example, in the Middle East, effectively hunted & butchered by popular decree. THAT would have merit. The coincidence of Christians being shot in mass shootings in a predominantly Christian country doesn't equal being targeted. It just means they're still the majority for the time being, and wrong time, wrong place applies.

So all antitheists wants to kill every Christian, and they're all like totalitarian dictators.

I don't say on ATS,
all atheism must be abolished from the face of the earth,
all atheism is a plague on mankind that has infected the earth,
all atheists are ..... (name what is spouted about Christians)
I don't say any of those things at all.

No you just say atheists are aspiring genocidal tyrants who view Christians as sub-humans...

Yes I do think this World would be much better off without the Abrahamic religions. Suggesting that means I want the religious people to die, as if there were no other means to this end, is fallacious and quite disturbing. You have much violence on your mind.

Have you heard the maxim: the pen is mightier than the sword??

I think atheists/antitheists hope that through the collaboration of ideas more and more theists will drop their faith. Through education. You know, by denying ignorance and all that jazz. I don't want Christians, or any religious person, to be murdered because of their faith. I want them to drop the ancient bullcrap and join the ranks of the other free-thinkers. You interpret discussion as "forcing you to become an atheist". That's asinine and proving the OP.

Your opinion.

Unfortunately, I'm not an arrogant know-it-all who wants
everyone else to drop their bullcrap and
join my ranks, because what they think is wrong
and you should all think exactly like me.
If you don't think like me, I'll just have to
keep re-educating you until you think like me.
Because my way of thinking is the only truly
intelligent and correct way to think,
and the rest of you
well the world would be better off without
the way that you think, because you are wrong
and I am always right.

Forgive me for not understanding
your point of view. I got it now.
The paragraph above summarizes what
you said quite well, don't you think?

Not forcing, oh no, you want "re-education"
except you leave off the "re" but that is what is implied,
think I've heard that term before.....
The world would be better off without
all Abrahamic religions. Could it be
Stalin and Mao who agree with you?

No re education is the wrong word.

Just educate people and they turn away from religion.
We see it happening in the USA and the UK as we speak.

www.telegraph.co.uk...

www.npr.org...

www.wsj.com...

the internet has helped religion fall away.
Educate and people and they leave religion.

Wait... isn't that one of your callings as a Christian? To spread the gospel and convert as many as possible? Isn't that the entire point of Christianity, to get "everyone to drop their bullcrap and join their ranks"?

Good. You now recognize it's about beliefs and not the people themselves. Learning is fun.

Education. The sharing of knowledge without the use of violence. Like what's occurring in this thread.

I won't go so far as to say there is a direct correlation (although there may be), but as religion is fading in the States, kids growing up in broken homes is increasing. Just sayin'

Maybe them growing up in broken homes is why they're turning away from religion. They see the all the bull that's happening in this world causing their home to be broken and realize any kind of religion promoted in this world isn't worth following.

Not me, you haven't read my posts have you?

I'm the worlds worst Christian.

Unlike the vast majority of responders
on this thread
I believe in live and let live.

You believe as you want to
I believe as I want to
You don't harass me about what I believe
and I don't harass you about what you believe or don't believe

You are all trying very hard to
convert me to your way of thinking.
All I have asked of you is to leave me
and other Christians like me alone to
believe what we want to believe.

I have pointed out how in your
evangelistic fervor to eliminate religion
you have created an environment
of verbal abuse toward those who
choose to believe
calling them cultists,homophobic,
women haters,
stupid, in need of education.

Who is really attempting to convert
people to the "right" way of thinking -
by claiming
that religion is evil and the cause of
all ills on the earth?
And you have the answer, believe the
way I do and you will all be saved
from evil religion, because I know the
only true and correct way to think and to live.
My way of thinking is the only one that
will really save the world.

You guys make TV evangelists look
tame and wimpy compared to your
deep contempt of those who dare to
not think as you do.

My family runs a long-term residential care home for medically fragile children. We have for a long time.

Most of their biological parents were rather terrible people that didn't give two $*#& about their kids. Some instances are so bad the kids are in witness protection. Although some of their parents are great people, and just don't have the medical expertise to care for their child, and visit our home when they can.

Guess what? The vast majority of these parents that had their kids taken away due to physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.... were Christian.

So no I don't think there is any correlation between a decline in religion and an increase in 'broken homes'.

Yet you still follow a religion that tells you to be "an arrogant know-it-all who wants everyone else to drop their bullcrap and join your ranks, because what they think is wrong".

Why are you talking crap about someone doing that when your religion promotes doing exactly that?

Hold it, you said I was doing that.

I have the right to defend myself when you claim I am doing something because I am a Christian.

Why not hold a mirror up to you and show you
that what you are doing is as wrong
as what you claim the Christians are doing?

You get me wrong.

When your idea of evangelism is to
call people names,
to berate them as stupid,
to tell them they are ignorant,
to call them homophobes,
to call them women haters
to try and verbally abuse them
into believing as you do
that is wrong.

I will gladly talk to anyone who
WANTS to talk to me about my
religion.
I don't personally know a single
Christian who forces people to
talk to them about their faith.
I'm not saying they are not out there.
After all there are plenty of people around
the world killing people because they are religious.
So both your point of view and mine have
extremists who force their beliefs on others.

My friends and I:
sew quilts for women in rehab and visit them
make beautiful bags for foster children and take them to camps so the children have a nice bag for their clothes
(the state gives them trash bags)
take food to the homeless
make sleeping mats for the homeless, take them tents, make quilts for them
take cookies to the local prison where dessert is never served
run a food pantry
feed children after school whose parents can't afford to feed them
make water purifiers so people in central america can have clean water and not get sick
care for AIDS patients in the only clinic in the area that will care for AIDS patients (yes my Christian Dr friend does that, and he is the only Doctor who will care for AIDS patients for nearly 100 miles in each direction)
to name a few, I could go on and on
And when we are asked why we do it, then we tell them about our faith and that is why we do it, because we love God and he tells us to take care of the poor and needy and the outcasts of society. When they ask about our religion we tell them, when they ask.

What do you do to spread the word
that religion is the biggest evil in the world?
How do you tell people about it?
Do you do it in a kind way?
Do you wait until they ask why you are doing kind and generous things?
How is your philosophy of doing away with religion making a positive difference in anyone's life?
In what way is your philosophy actually improving the world and the people in the world?

We don't need a religion to be good.
