Anyone else working a night shift job had any paranormal experiences?

One of the offices I use to look after was in a renovated Terrace (victorian) .

They listened to music and the channel would always change to the BBC news from a 'hipper' station. And the volume would get turned up really loud.
Then if it was changed back to the music station it would turn the volume right down

Files and paperwork use to fly off desks like a big wind came through.
And no one ever used the loo in the upstairs as one of the guys there saw 'someone' staring at him once in there. lol.
Someone looked into the history and there was a murder suicide in the upstairs in the 1940s.

I hated going in there for team visits:O

Wow I bet you hated going there. Sounds like the spirit of some cranky old dude haha.

Woah murder suicide ok that'd leave something behind alright.

Man that's intense! Don't know how you did it haha. Yeah that's such an unnerving feeling a, being watched like that.

Yeah I've had all sorts of experiences too this is actually my first night shift job. I've experienced way crazier # at home and at other places. Just thought Night shift would start the topic off well and not be the usual "Have you seen a ghost" thread that gets overlooked. Loving the responses from everyone though.

So feel free to share any other experiences if you like, I'm sure everyone will enjoy it

Thanks for sharing, that is quite intriguing. Your experience reminds me a bit of nightmares I've had of a house my family lived in when I was little. I've had nightmares about this invisible man who comes to me, draining my energy in some way. I'm always terrified, running or trying to hide from him in these dreams (in which of course I'm a child again.) The house was said to have been haunted and my mother once heard very loud footsteps coming up the stairs, like a fisherman wearing wet rubber boots. She grabbed something for a weapon to defend herself but no one was there. I personally have very few memories of that house at all, and no bad memories, but for these bizarre dreams.

Not sure if this might interest you or not, but I had co-worker who had once worked as a security guard at night for a property on which was the building of an abandoned juvenile hall in which many of the boys had been allegedly abused. While in the building one night, alone, she heard the screaming of a child. She looked all around but could see no one. She said she heard cries, like numerous children calling out to be heard, and it so shook her that she quit and told her boss why. She was a strong woman but obviously that would spook and disturb anyone.

That's freaky alright, the dream and your friends experience. That place must have had a horrible energy

If you want to listen to the ultimate story about paranormal events on a night shift, listen to Rocky Elmore, a retired U.S. border agent. His stories will curl your hair. He has done several interviews so search his name and you'll find them. I don't recommend that you listen to them at work.

When I was a little girl, many many moons ago, my grandfather lived in an old rectory in San Francisco. It always creeped me out because it seemed like it was always so dark in there. My uncle told me that on several occasions , my grandfather heard priests praying at night.

I worked in the casino business for 18 years mainly on nights, one of the three casinos that I worked in an old building in the city centre ( built at the turn of the century )was very haunted. I had several experiences myself as had some other staff and members, punters. The building had a ground floor lobby entrance and then two large floors above, the first floor had the gaming area and another room which was being used as a card room, the top floor had a restaurant, kitchen in the middle an the staff room at the other side. Anyway one of the most dramatic appearances of the lady ghost happened when the restaurant had just closed and the chef and waitress was clearing up in the kitchen, the chef was mopping the floor right at the door to the restaurant, (there is a little lobby area between the restaurant and the kitchen) when a grey shape walked past the door, the waitress was facing the area and also saw the shape go past, with that the chef said to her 'did you see that' and when she replied yes, he dropped the mop an ran to the staff room and refused to go back and had to be persuaded to finish clearing up, anyway he left the next day as it had really shaken him up, the waitress a very good friend of mine was not troubled by the experience but she already knew that the building was haunted as she had other experiences before, the most strange experience that happened to me was when I was on the top floor landing about to go down the stair's when I heard a soft woman's voice say my name but came from directly above my head as I looked up, that freaked me out I can tell you, I have many more story's from that place. Forgot to mention that the building had been a dance hall when first opened and then a catering college before the casino.

Do you want to specify the education building you work in? I have worked in an education building where the elevator does this very thing, and I have seen a ghost in the stairwell next to the elevator. The first and only time I have actually SEEN one. PM me if you don't want to say in the thread.

I hadn't thought about those soldiers having attachments, and now that you mention that, there are really so many angles to that, so anything is possible.
There was a show that only had a few episodes called "Ghost Stalkers" which was pretty entertaining because the two guys investigating would get so scared by noises and stuff, but then most people would, but one of the episodes dealt with an old school. Episode 6 Farrar school, and that school was definitely haunted, but the school had no known deaths in it, and was a school that had a happy history as well, no known abuse or anything, so they were trying to figure out why it was haunted. It also had a very negative haunting associated with it. In one episode, the one guy yelled "if this place is a portal to hell, slam a door!" and then a very loud slam of a door was heard near him and he jumped and screamed. Was hilarious..

So the traditional reasons for a haunting didn't fit there, and this may parallel that church I went to in some ways. But I never really had a negative thing happen there, just that piano scare And it was probably haunted by people who like that place and weren't negative spirits, but I can't know for sure.

In other dreams of that church, they were usually me wandering around inside when it is dark and spooky. And in some there would be hundreds of people walking through the halls and seemingly going to an event.

Oh nice yeah I don't like the show Ghost stalkers, you should try watching Ghost Adventures It's so much better.

Yeah man not all spirits are negative spirits.

And for sure this is why I love this topic so much there's no straight forward simple answer to anybodys experiences you really have to have a good think about it. Really loving everybodys input on here including yours friend

Thanks doodles, some staff experiences.... The boss saw a woman sitting at a blackjack table when the casino was closed and no one should of been there, for a second she thought it was the other manager on the shif but she was upstairs along with me and some other staff, I can remember seeing her directly after this incident and thinking she looked I'll (face white as a sheet ) and asking her if she was ok, but not knowing what had just happened.
Knives and forks throwing themselves off of worktops in the room where the waitress es made sandwiches.
Another one of my experiences, sitting in the bar area( this was part of the gaming floor) after counting the money at the end of the shift , I was on one side, two other staff were on the other about 10 feet away when i noticed a very strong ice cold breeze blowing past me, I wasn't imaging this as there was some leaflets on the table in front of me and they were fluttering , moving with it . the other staff had not noticed anything.
Several customers had had seen or heard things, and that's just the ones we heard about...like being tapped on the sholder or back when no one was behind.
Another customer was leaving the casino one night and had another woman in front of her, well, as they got outside and were crossing the road the woman in front apparently evaperated before her eyes.
Also i was told that Another customer had seen something in the restaurant and had reported their sighting to the local paper but I have not seen the report so can't confirm this. reply to: doodles40

Hey, I do the night shifts at at Hotel from 11pm to 7 am, I just posted something weird that happen to me last week.
I haven't had a lot of experiences apart from that one, but I'm pretty sure there's a ghost around here.
There's this electric teapot we have in the dinning room, and it goes on in the middle of the night.

I've also heard footsteps multiple times, at first I wasnt sure if it was just my imagination, or some noise coming from the streets. But one night, I remember hearing very loud footsteps in the room that's right next to the lobby(where the resturant hall is), and a door opening, as if someone was rushing in. I was all alone, the first thing I thought is that some burglar had broken in. There was undoubtedly somebody there, I went to the kitchen through a side corridor to see if I could spot the guy from there, I didn't managed to hear or see anybody, so I crept back to the lobby, very slowly, trying not to be heard or seen, but there was utter silence there too, I kept getting closer, and when I finally got there I realized there was nobody there either, I then went back to the kitchen, checked the doors, the windows, the dinning room, nothing at all, not even a sign of somebody coming in and then leaving the room. That was the time I was certain I had heard something real.
