So expanding Medicaid is going to help the moochers? Do you know what Medicaid is actually used for? You bring up all these examples of supposedly free stuff the government gives, and try to make the comparison that people on Medicaid want to mooch off the system to also get those things. This is healthcare for the people unable to afford it. People don't get hurt or sick on purpose to mooch off the system...

I know what it is. Why does it need to be expanded? I know quite a few people who are covered by it already, and aren't moochers. I was referring to the ever-increasing handouts. Where does it end? We are TRILLIONS in debt, outsourcing jobs by the thousands every day, and taking in record numbers of immigrants eager for jobs that simply don't exist...

HOW DOES THIS END IN ANY POSITIVE WAY????

Everyone is able to survive day to day with shelter, food, and other basic necessities. Or do you not see that as being a positive thing?

Is that what humanity aspires to?? Surviving day-to-day with a shelter and basic necessities?

Some of you guys really never paid attention in history class eh?

Full-blast socialism never elevates anyone, it only brings the rest down to the same miserable destitution they worked to hard to leave. Oh wait, yea it does elevate the corrupt, scheming backroom handshakers and politicians.

Socialism doesn't help people into the middle-class, it ELIMINATES the middle class, so therefore the poor then have nothing to strive for.

Seriously, before replying please read about and understand the rise and fall of the USSR. Or you could try the short version: North Korea

IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK

The only thing that matters is that humans satisfy the bottom levels of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. After that, its all just filler and wastes of time until you die. That is how nature works and humans are just a product of nature.

Human aspiration is a human ideal. If you want to work to improve a skill or contribute to society, that's good and we view that as a good ideal to aspire too, but at no point is it a requirement for humans to live and thrive.

We don't have full-blast Socialism in this country. We have a balanced mix of Capitalism and Socialism. So these points are irrelevant.

Communist != Socialist. Plus, I really wouldn't call the USSR or North Korea try Communist countries either. More like Crony Capitalist states where the government is the only game in town. If you are going to accuse me of not studying history, then you should know these things. Maybe you should study political history a bit better?

well why don't they force compromises on the wasteful stuff? something fishy about all that, doncha think? like the idea is to blame the tax payers for the suffering.

They do, that's the whole idea behind their no tax increase pledge, to force the government to spend only on what matters rather than on wasteful items.

and when that happens and the funds are not increased to help the elderly and the poor, the whole thing will be blamed on little old ladies in church pews. i know of elderly people eating dog food cause their fixed income can't keep up with price of everything.
