Actually in many states the paperwork can be bypassed just by buying it at a gun show. Right now only 18 states require background checks at gun shows.

I *think* there's a license you can purchase which serves as a renewable background check (similar to the TSA pay-in program which allows frequent travelers to bypass the line to get their privates fondled more quickly). Most firearm purchasers, however, have to go through the process everytime. If you buy a firearm at a place like Cabella's, it can take well over an hour just filling out the papers, waiting for the checks, and getting all the redundant inspections of the paperwork and the weapon. This process is the same for every firearm.

No you can't, but everyone misses the idea of adoption. I have so many adopted family members - husband, nephews, cousin, etc.

If we had a better budget and slightly more space in our home, we'd adopt one ourselves.

But the preferred solution would be to get people not to get pregnant in the first place. Sadly, the current culture of sex whenever and wherever is not conducive to that. Note: I am not against sex, but I do think people treat it far too cavalierly without respecting it for what it is intended to do and then they get in trouble.
