Physically alive, but 'Soul' already exited?

I look back at deaths in the family and among friends, some quite young, and how behaviour changed the months or in some cases years before the person physically perished.

Alot of times, the person became just more 'flat' eyed like there was no longer any life in their eyes plus they were more 'operational' and less 'spiritual'. In alot of cases of where I suspected they remained physically alive but the soul had already exited, there was heavy alcohol/prescription/drug use rather than a biological disease.

I'm wondering if there's any studies or theories out there, on this? Seems to me that at least 1 in 10 persons alive today walking around, their 'soul' has already given up yet they are pretty darn functional and even quite emotional bursts, ie throwing 'I love yous' around right after smacking you or a bout of swearing F this F that or breaking things around their house on impulse.

A gradual detachment of soul as body (or will to live) dies?

People are so loaded up with stress and being treated badly during their lives, used and abused from the nursery to the old peoples homes that they turn to things like drugs just to escape the pain for a brief time. Anger is a learned thing. Often, physically violent people are that way because they have been nurtured that way - having been victims of violence themselves. It is a behaviour and a tool of asserting will taught to them by bitter experience.

It's good to throw a few # yous around sometimes. Sorry, but I'm a down to earth guy. I like honesty not superficiality. A bit of anger never hurt anyone and sometimes it is well justified.

Toughen up! If there is physical abuse involved get the # out as quickly as possible because nobody should have to tolerate that.

No, it is not about lost souls. It is all still in there. It is just #ed up by society and other people. Perhaps humans should treat each other better then none of this # would happen.

I think it is just another sign of the times. We are losing our humanity.

I just last night wrote a thread speaking to the changes that seem to have taken place over time. It seems in the last six generations we are taking a nose dive away from humanity towards technology.

I am afraid there may no need or a desire for a soul in our future.

I believe in the existence of a spiritual soul

When we die that spiritual part of our being transcends this world into the next with full conciousness.

That is my belief.

I cannot prove it as such the question at the heart of your OP also cannot be answered, we cannot measure the soul so we cannot detect it having left the body before death.

I don't know if this is what your looking for but its just something regarding my own experiences as someone who regularly cares for dying patients. Quite often I will hear families saying things like "dad died days ago", they see dad lying on that hospital bed, unable to do anything he used to do or even communicate so most families start the grieving process. Other say the same about dementia "we lost 2 years before when she forgot her own name" for example. Now i do not know if that's representative of the soul leaving the months or days before ones eventual death but i think its as close as we could ever get to it.

More or less along those lines.....

I think it is absolutely the case. Sometimes we continue to keep the body alive through artificial means while the soul is long gone.

While I certainly believe in a 'life force' (not necessarily the modern idea of a soul...but something gives us consciousness), it would seem possible that there is something that can leave the body prior to physical death. But, I think that physical life is associated with the 'thing' that provides our consciousness, and without it, we can't have self-sustained life.

On a less serious note, though, this would certainly explain politicians and their actions, all around the world, and how they seem capable of making decisions that seem to lack any empathy and understanding for the average human being.

Most souls have a regression in this human condition. What you were seeing was an element of darkness creating a veil.

Perhaps the soul can be multidimensional. In which case yeah it can fade away gradually from a person as they become increasingly toxic/inhumane. Drugs or certain conditions, maybe even subliminal messages might also work to gradually 'drive' the soul 'out'.

Sucks if/when chosen nation or continent/world leaders remain in office without their soul. Hitler and the colonizers of continents come to mind, as well as everyday events in the news like a family member killing every one else in their house or building at the drop of a hat; where was the soul then?

does ATS have a Tag system?

Thank you inviting me to place a link to my thread. I think your thread speaks volumes in regard to what is happening in our generation and in mine I try to address where our decisions and behavior may be directing us in the future.

I am always very reluctant to put a link to my own threads in another's post. I don't start them often and I am not your stars and flag kind of gal, as you can readily see from my stats. Been a member since 2009 and I probably have the worse stats on the board. To be honest I don't even know what half of them mean.

I don't know what a tag system is but I know you aren't allowed to cross post. Doing so was my first and only infraction of ATS rules I have been quilty of so far, as far as I know. At least the first and only one a Mod had to call me out on.

I have actually considered this possibility.
Working in a nursing home, I can usually see a change, something happens... you can see it in their eyes. Each time, I hear the voice in my head say, "they are already gone."

I know people like this, including myself.

I feel like this at times - that my soul has left my body and I am just a human shell. Living for other people at the expense of my own deep-seated desire to be dead.

Is life the greatest tragedy or the most precious gift? Only God knows...

I agree, in studies done on subjects under hypnosis they are regressed to the life in between lives or interfile and are taken to the time of previous life death and many explain how their soul departs the body, it has to do with the functionality of the human brain, once the brain becomes useless the soul have not reason to remain in the body, even when the body is still alive, now is rare occasion in wish the soul still stays in the body until the time of death and that is when is part of the soul learning experience.

From the research I have done on soul dual ability people that have the feelings that they do not belong in their bodies or that they feel spacy and no grounded all the time, is due to something call dual ability, this is a term often use to describe when a soul is advance enough to experience two lives at the same time for faster advancement, when this happen their energy is split in two even when most of the spirit energy is left in the spiritual reals because the human body can not take the entire soul energy as the human brain is not advance enough.

The split ability of the soul is only temporarily and only overlap by a few life years, only advance souls experience this.

Very interesting, though I doubt I possess an advanced soul to be honest.

I guess what we are both describing could also be:
Depersonalization Disorder

That is the scientific name and how the medical community treats problems as usual with the same old same mostly antidepressants.

You can do better, research on the topic of life after death, interlife and soul learning, meditation also helps this feelings are not long lasting.

Once you learn how to find your soul purpose and learn to communicate with your spiritual guides you will feel a lot better.

that is, if your problem is no actually related with a real treatable condition and not spiritual.

But if you are able to talk about it, it means that you even without realizing, knows that something is different about you and have known for a long time.

Just research, it doesn't hurt to learn about our true life purpose sometimes, so we don't feel alone and lost.

I wish you the best.

Wow I have alot of those symptoms! (Observing my own actions as a third person, having have out of body experiences,

Good to see its at least not deemed a 'psychosis' per say. I'd way rather remain a 'dissociative' rest of my life rather than a material minion like the masses.

That said, the disorder above is actually opposite what I observe in people that remain alive but have lost their humanity/soul. Most like I said are stuck to their idiosynchratic vices in day to day life: heavy smoking, drinking, drug abuse (prescriptions galore included), porn, oh and sitting behind video games for the bulk of the day 'killing' people and the like..

and i'm seeing lots of KIDS growing up seemingly 'without souls'. alot join the military and find a sense of purpose in the 'group think' as they dont seem to aspire much aside from video games, porn, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, aside from their job.
