Fox aired the first promo for the new X-Files, set to air this coming January!

looks like they're able to get all to major roles revived. actually wasn't expecting skinner to be in it. and the motha f'n cigarette smoking man. w00t w00t! seriously can't wait. the anticipation is insane.

I started re-watching all the old series back in June when I first heard about it. I just started season 8.

Pretty pumped up about it.

Very excited about it! I think Mulder would have a field day in modern America.

How Totally Awesome this is going to be!!! X-Files has to be My all time favorite!!! I am happy that they brought back the Original's for this!

I hate when a sequal/re-make does not contain the original cast! Makes it way too hard to watch without constantly doing comparisons...

The underwhelming last three seasons ruined it for me. Even with Mulder returning it was lacking. Saying that, it was still better than most crap on tv at the time.

It always bugged me how the first movie was supposed to be in continuity, yet even after everything that went down in the movie involving an impending alien invasion, Mulder and Scully still chased monsters in suburbia and acted like the world wasn't about to end.

I'm going to wait jntil the reviews are in before I get my hopes too high.

I thought about that. World (as we know it) should have ended in 2012 based on the last episode of the TV series.

Im going to have to ask whats so great about the X Files. I see everyone's hyper about it here so now I'm a bit hyper. Never watched it myself so I'm curious.

I would say that one of the main characters (Fox Mulder) is the personification of the daydreams of little boys who wonder about the stars, aliens and bigfoot. Great stuff.
It's on Netflix so if you have that service, BINGE AWAY my friend! Binge away.

Early on in the series there was something of a "monster of the week" format. Later on there were subplots that spanned the balance of the series.
In short, I suspect you would be well served to go through the original series first.
