You wrote: QUOTE "Surly one can do better than the uncertain mindset of Aslan. If one reads this man's work it would be totally confused just as he is. Your choice of people such as Aslan and Cohn is really not the best in this biblical theological mindset..." UNQUOTE

I merely offered Dr. Aslan as an example of a point of view you should read and think deeply about, especially the points he raises in his book "Zealot : The Life & Times of Jesus of Nazareth" was a recent best seller (and favourably reviewed) and recaps theological scholarship over the past 100 years or so on this topic.

Aslan has a B.A. in Theological Studies from Santa Clara University, M.A. from Harvard in the History of Religions, a PhD in the Sociology of Religions from UC Santa Barbara, and also an arts degree from the University of Iowa...so it is no surprise that his writing is so lucid and forceful...

Why you would describe Aslan's midset as 'uncertain' is non-sensical. His writing is stylishly compelling on a number of points and is based on thorough scholarship - much of what he has to say in his book is pertinent to our discussion here of "Jesus" being a failed Messianic hopeful (ending his career unexpectedly on a Roman crux).

Read the book iof you haven't yet, and then we can discuss it more intelligently...
