Jack is Back

Jack is Back Version 1.1

Jack is Back..Version 2.1

The Escape

Jack clawed his way through the densely packed earth. It was a mind numbing process, to be sure, but it was his only way out of the prison he had been locked up in for far, far too long. Saliva mixed with tiny grains of dirt covered his mouth. He had wiped at it several times, but all that seemed to do was spread it all around his face. He didn't care, it wasn't like he hadn't been wallowing in his own filth for an eternity...now was it?

Jack thought about that for a moment, the irony of him wiping away dirt from his lips when he was pretty much the epitome of filth and started to laugh. It came from the gut, slowly building as his enjoyment did, until he was laughing so hard that the dirt he was digging at poured into his mouth. Which made the situation even more funny to him. He swallowed hard, letting the soil slide down his throat and into his stomach. I won't be eating dirt for much longer he thought as he continued to scrape at the walls of his tunnel.

It had almost been a year since The Key Master had sacrificed himself to keep Jack locked up. The man who foolishly still believed in the goodness of men. The one who had tricked Jack into killing him so humans would have another year of peace in order to get things right. Jack spit towards the ground at the thought of it. "Stupid Key Master! All you did was delay the inevitable!" Jack cried out as he smashed his fist against the wall of the tunnel in anguish. He felt the rage rush back into his body as he remembered.

After his initial response, Jack continued upon his rampage of hate. He had desecrated the man's body. Pulled him apart from limb to limb, poking out his eyes, and smashing his skull into a soft, sinewy slush. He had been made a fool of! By a lowly, good for nothing Key Master. A man who had meant so little to his counterparts that he was chosen to do the most lowly of tasks.

And yet, he still did his job....sacrificing himself for the betterment of man. "He was a Fool!" Jack screamed. Spittle and dirt spewing from his mouth as he did so. And the only thing he got out of it was a painful and agonizing death. One that was quite satisfying for Jack to dish out as well.

After all that, Jack finally realized that the key to his chains had been sitting right there, all this time, right next to where The Key Master had fallen. He took his hand and carefully picked through the remnants of the body, shoving flesh and body parts to and fro and sloshing the blood from side to side, until he found it. Finally free of his chains, he tried the key on the door to no avail. He tried everything he could think of after that, and the door still remained closed.

He screamed his dissatisfaction to the walls as he slumped down next to The Key Masters body. Grabbing a piece of cartilage and stretching it between his two hands like a rubber band as he thought. He jumped back up a few minutes later and began to pace the room. It took him a few days, but he found a weak spot in one of the walls, and from the moment he ripped the stone away, he had been digging. That was a full six months ago. And he was very, very close to the surface now.

It was a full eight months before Jack sprung out of the hole he had dug to the surface. It was dark out and the moon was full. Looking at the position of the stars, he knew that it was Fall. Possibly close to his favorite holiday, Hallows Eve. He had broke out in a desolated part of the Earth, surrounded by trees and he saw no signs of human activity.

He turned around to view where he had been imprisoned at. It had been inside a mountain. Very, very deep within and below it. He smiled as he thought about his clever escape. Now, he would finally get to do what he was made for. Now...he would become legend.

To be Continued...um..soon?

The Capture

It took The Key Master months to pull himself back together. Jack had made a mess of him, that was for sure. And to come back from such a thing, well, even for one of The Watchers, it was a hard thing to do. While he waits for his strength to return, he surveys the room. Seeing the chain on the ground, the door still closed, then the hole in the wall, he concludes that Jack dug his way out. This was a situation now. But, not one that couldn't easily be remedied.

Standing up, The Key Master walks over to the door and whispers. The door opens and he walks up to his living quarters. Taking a satchel, three feathers, and two pieces of coal from his desk, he walks back down and stands before the hole in the wall. He whispers a word unknown to man, and the wall repairs itself, the dirt and stone returning to their original position within seconds. All was as it had been before.

One more word is whispered as The Key Master holds out apiece of coal. The coal dissolves into a transparent black smoke and a portal appears before him. Walking through it, he steps into a spot surrounded by trees. This was where Jack had come up at. Following the trail of dead animals, The Key Master takes a step forward and starts his journey.

What took Jack three weeks to travel, The Key Master did in two days. For time does not flow the same way for The Watchers as it does for everyone else. The Key Master is able to speed it up or slow it down, but it only as it relates to him, he cannot do this for others.

Standing on the outskirts of town, The Key Master throws a feather in the air and whispers another ancient word. From the feather materializes an eagle. It lands on his shoulder and he tells it what he would like it to do. The eagle flies off and circles over the town, beginning the search for Jack.

The Key Master waits until the eagle starts to circle above his prey. As soon as that happens, he throws up the other two feathers and whispers again. Two more eagles materialize and after he speaks to them, they join the first in flight.

Opening his satchel and holding it out, The Key Master watches as the birds swoop down in union and grab Jack with their claws. Jack is kicking his legs and swinging his arms all over the place as they return him to The Key Master, yelling derivatives all the way through the flight. A few times he reaches up to try and grab a bird by its neck, hoping for a strangle hold.

The eagles drop Jack into the bag and The Key Master pulls the strings tight. Throwing it over his shoulder as if it weighed nothing, he pulls out the second piece of coal and whispers to it. A portal opens and he walks into it stepping out of it back into Jacks prison. He opens the beg just a bit, and Jack squirms around, trying to get out. The Key Master waits until an arm appears through the hole and places the chain back upon Jacks wrist. All is as it should be now.

Jack is back...back where he needs to be...until next year.
