Hi, I found this pic on another forum and no-one can decide if it's real or fake. For me the shadow doesn't appear to fit with the subject. Also i dont see any wet pawprints as the Bear appears to be fresh from a river. Anyhoo could someone settle this one once and for all.

Cheers..

I tried going to douglindstrand.com and my system detected malware. I think the pic is probably real, as he is selling photographic prints and the license plate is Alaska. But I don't want to go back and inspect it further.

Not if you're European!

The pic is a fake, obviously. There's absolutely no shadow on the bear.

Fake! The dude on the left is a dead give away. When one runs from a bear, they don't continue holding their binoculars. He was obviously added to the shot.

(I wish there was a font just for sarcasm)

And some say real some say fake even in this thread. I'm leaning towards fake on a number of points, Shadows, Waterlogged Bear, no wet pawprints, and the reaction (or lack of) of the people in the pic.

Yes, even in this thread so it would appear.

Well?

Which is it? I don't know anything about how to photoshop. So, if it's fake, please tell me how you know? I'm genuinely interested.

I lean twards fake. Why are those people smiling and standing around with a BEAR running through them, that doesn't seem normal. Plus, as the OP states, where are the wet footprints? I do thing the shadow is right though.

I'm not sure why a professional wildlife photographer would fake a picture like that.

It's not unreasonable to assume with all the tours up there during salmon runs that a bear would wander through the crowds now and then.

If you can figure out the shadow behind the bear's right front paw?
It looks also that all, but the woman in the cerise red jumper, is lookiing at something behind the camera, and even where she is looking is ambiguous.

I instead think they are a bit too "slim" and not large enough around the paw touching the ground

The smiling woman on the right gets me. The bear (if real) has just run by her but before it would have run towards her. Now if I had an obvious large bear come running towards me I certainly would not be standing smiling hoping it was going to run past me or at me.
Besides, it's a man in a suit, you can see his muscles under the fur suit.

I don't see why it can't be or isn't completely real. It's not like a picture of Bigfoot or anything.
