Ya it is almost as ironic as all the religious folks that do nothing but bad mouth the pope for following what is attributed to Jesus.

I remember Jesus in one of his few acts of violence turning over scales outside a bank due to their corrupt tactics? Yet the pope is buying into a carbon tax scam willingly or unwillingly that has nothing to do with saving the planet, but a whole hell of a lot to do with transferring more wealth to those who are already filthy rich!

Hmmmmmm, What would Jesus do?......

Yes jesus would be against scams and I think it is a bit of an over statement to say every one us is falling for it. Way to make it policital as usual though, thought you didn't like that?

Climate change IS political! So is every other aspect of our lives, to include sexuality, religion, family, race etc etc.....So much for freedom when our political leaders have created an atmosphere of division that does nothing but destroy us as human beings while giving them a laugh all the way to the bank.

Sorry to burst your bubble....

Obviously everyone has an opinion. Mine is below....

For the record I am not a Christian. I am a lover.....of LOVE. A seeker, if you will.

The Pope being a Jesuit has a message that is unlike the hard core Christian. I thoroughly enjoyed his message as well as enjoyed the differences he brings to the Catholic body and the world. He is not like other Popes. He stirs it up and for that I salute.

A message of religious freedom. Individual freedom isn't something people like to hear, especially the ones who are brain washed within the political structure of the media which sets to divide.

This Pope is unique as each person on the face of this Earth is. We are all different. I love it....

He has a vision of making our home better which is welcoming and shouldn't be twisted.

We all have a right to free will.

There isn't my land or your land.... it is OUR LAND.

There has never been and never will be elitist in high profile positions not pushing their own belief within an agenda. This is not going to happen. The expectation of such is a let down to some and for others they realize their expectation is their own woe to bear.

Whether or not genuine... the message was a breath of fresh air.

He believed in teaching a man how to fish so he could feed himself for life.

No, he didn't.

18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Jesus encourgaed people to walk away from their jobs, in this case fishing, and their families who depended on them. He took the fishermen away from the people who needed the fish for their livelihood, and didn't even bother to leave a multiplying basket of fish and bread behind!

Sigh, in a sense Jesus's monolithic religion, dd away with some serious violent Animal behavior that was produced from Homo sapiens centuries ago...

It was actually something that helped us evolve and get along..

Yet that is a whole other controversial conversation not worth trying to discuss on ATS..

I also assume your being sarcastic...

Not bursting it, you just always preach to leave politics out of things but seem to always bring it up and demonize only one side.

My post that you responded to had nothing to do with what you said but you decided to bring it up.

The only atmosphere of divison is from the people that don't want the change, I don't feel divided at all in my every day life.

Hey now the left has been telling Jesus never existed.

Now they are telling me he did.

Which way is it?

Guess that separation of church and state works only part time.

When it become politically expedient for the left EMBRACE 'right wing' neocon' ideology.

I see how that works.

I'm not the spokesmens for the left, just for me. I have always been fine with the idea that a man named jesus lived and preached what is said. Just don't buy all the super natural stuff.

You keep going on about the Sep of church and state but fail to see what it has to do with anything in this context.

Do you REALLY want the Catholic Church taking center stage in the political arena? Remember, that has happened before and i was not pleasant.

Well the left needs to make up their mind.

For decades they been telling me to ignore what the Pope says.

Now they are telling me I should 'listen' to what the Pope says.

They can't have it both ways.

you can tell who a man is by those who follow him.

Really? What does that say about the millions upon millions of Christians following mega-rich TV preachers? Does that mean Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, and others are saints?

CAtholicism is just that Catholicism, it is not Christian and many of the doctrines and teachings of the Catholic pope differ from that of the Bible in many cases. Oh except in the obvious helping the poor. But many churches help the poor.

I've never known of ANY denomination that doesn't "cherry pick" from the bible what they want to believe, and trashbin the rest. You're all eclectic. You just refuse to admit it.

Did you forget your external quotes?

SEPARATION of Church, and STATE.

How is hosting a religious leader or agreeing with a religious leader crossing the line between Church and State?

We have a a Potus that just loves to mock them Christian's clinging to their guns, and bibles

I noticed the biggest supporters seem to be people who declare they are not Christians.

I find that ironic.

Nothings changed...

Remember, it was the religious people were the ones yelling "Crucify!" in 33AD.

Why?

Religion was created to HIDE the truth from you about God.

Like the sig quote says:

religions destroy spirituality... ~ Michael Ellner

Behind religion stands the father of ALL lies.

As you can see from their own writings, the Catholic Church has ALWAYS been opposed to God and His word...

After The Roman Catholic church got underway, they immediately started killing Bible believing Christians with the Inquisition...
www.youtube.com...

"Opened on Thursday alongside the Inquisition archives was the infamous Index of Forbidden Books, which Roman Catholics were forbidden to read or possess on pain of excommunication. They showed that even "the Bible" was once on the blacklist. Translations of the holy book ended up on the bonfires along with other ``heretical'' works...

"Canon 14. We prohibit also that the laity should be permitted to have the books of the Old or New Testament; ...we most strictly forbid their having any translation of these books."
