Today Satan is the end-all-be-all Nemesis to God, the closest thing to a rival that God actually has (which itself is ridiculous because an all powerful being cannot be rivaled).

In the Bible, particularly the Old Testament, Satan WORKS FOR GOD as a prosecution attorney who convicts humans of their sins. You can see this in the book of Job very prominently when Satan is escorted by angels to God and begins accusing Job, that's why the word Satan means accuser or adversary. He wasn't GOD'S enemy he was mankind's enemy meant to find our hidden sins and expose them.

The notion of Satan as arch-evil nemesis of God comes from Christian teachings and writings and a melding of numerous myths throughout the centuries. They combined Lucifer, Baal (Beelzebub), and Satan to create this character. So please before you blame Satan do some research into who and what Satan actually is in mythology.

Now onto the part about gays. I have no idea what you're on about in this OP in regards to the genetic code. We still haven't found the so-called "gay gene". Homosexuality, however, has been observed in dozens of different species so at the worst its evolutionarily benign and, in fact, it may have advantages. For example let's say you have a fairly large family with 5-10 siblings, one might well turn out gay thus upping the chances of the others in passing on their genes (because they no longer have to compete), a sort of sexual altruism.

I really can't understand why people think social progress is a sign that the "Powers that Be" are at work doing something sinister. Would you say the same thing about the Civil Rights movement, racial integration and the decriminalization of interracial marriage? Would you see something sinister in President Lincolns move to abolish slavery. And yet here's a bunch of people who just want to be able to get married but can't because of gender discrimination and discrimination based on sexual orientation and you see some dark agenda moving in the shadows that involves both the Elites AND Satan. Sheesh.

I dont care about Satans detailed history, knowing all that would do nothing for me, just waste space in my mind. I do not need all the answers, all I need is my faith, and to cherish this gift of a life I am fortunate enough to have.

You say all of that, but there are a lot of single parent families that don't provide what you speak of.

There are also many mixed families where dad or mum are not the biological parent. Some of these parents are not very nice.

I would argue that most of those children grow up fine.

Look around, the heterosexual family unit is seldom the ideal model you put forward. And none of the situations I raised are the fault of gay people.

Put simply, divorce, mixed families and single parents are not the fault if the gay community.

The Maori people of NZ have always had a very fluid view of what family means. They are an awesome warrior race and I can tell you now, amazing people if you are privileged enough to be considered a friend by them. So the 'end of the bourgeois family' never started for some, because it never was. And they are doing just fine.

Because you suggested I was a religious humanist and a Progressive, neither label I identify with.

I'm not even sure I would identify as a secular humanist.

My beliefs regarding the character of Satan are based on my own research but they can also be directly gleaned from the actual Biblical text. The issue is that most Christians lump the Old and New Testament together and force them into alignment and also tend to believe whatever they were taught, such as the amalgamation of Satan as being one part Lucifer, one part Beelzebub (baal) and one part the actual character Satan.
