A federal judge on Friday ordered Arkansas to temporarily reinstate its Medicaid contract with Planned Parenthood after the state blocked funding over concerns about secretly recorded videos released by an anti-abortion group.

U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker in Little Rock granted Planned Parenthood of the Heartland's request to block for 14 days the state from denying funding to the organization. Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson last month announced he was terminating the contract.

The state's cancellation of the contract took effect Sunday, and Planned Parenthood says it would have affected Medicaid patients scheduled to visit its health centers starting Sept. 21.

The state says Planned Parenthood received more than $51,000 in Medicaid payments in Arkansas over the past fiscal year for family planning and gynecological services. None of the money went toward abortions.

Latest news in the PP/CMP drama, brought to you by Center for Medical Progress. What a joke of an organization CMP is and because of their smear campaign of BS and now the only two PP clinics in Alabama who don't even conduct abortions are being affected which only hurts low income women seeking services.

Arkansas is among several states that have moved to block Medicaid funding because of the videos. Planned Parenthood has filed similar lawsuits in Louisiana and Alabama challenging the defunding moves. The U.S. Justice Department has argued that Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's decision to cut off Medicaid funds to the group appeared to violate federal law.

Now isn't that sad? These state's political leaders are willingly accepting CMP's BS as fact because it serves their views and helps them push their own agendas. How about these states let actual fact finding investigations determine if the CMP's videos hold any water before looking to defund, or further defund PP?

Good call U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker for awarding PP Medicaid funding, even if it's only temporary (unless you continue to grant PP further funding).

"At this stage of the proceedings, the court finds that the threat of irreparable harm to PPH and Jane Does, and the public interest, outweighs the immediate interests and potential injuries to (the state)," Baker wrote.

These people are sickening. Their behavior is immoral and now the only people who suffer are women who need medical services. Maybe they should take our voting rights also?

You know we can't be trusted to make decisions for ourselves it seems.

Louisianna tried to pull theirs once but got called on it by the judge when they tried to say that eye doctors, dentists, and cosmetic surgeons could provide the services instead, so well, they have decide to change tactics and are trying again.
maybe this is more of a let's drain planned parenthood of their funding through legal fees and put them under that way since we don't have a leg to stand on to legally take their funding away. Don't know, just hope that CMP gets what is coming to them and am trying to follow the cases against them.

They should change the name to Womens Health Services. I think that would help, slightly.

Food stamp payments in limbo over Planned Parenthood defunding

On Tuesday the Agriculture Department said it will stop providing benefits the first several days of October if Congress does not pass legislation to keep government agencies open.

Quick!! Push Granny over that cliff!!!

I wonder if they actually do shut down the gov't over this could all those recipients who aren't paid then turn around and file a class action against CMP since it was their lies and half truths that started all this crap?
