Actually, we'd be calling it another example of the idiocy that zero tolerance policies produce right along with the kid who is being charged for assault because he stole a kiss on a dare.

The teacher was right to raise the concern. Would a TSA agent ignore this contraption at the airport? No.

What?? Should we make children take off their shoes and belts before entering school as well?

And yes...the TSA would have allowed that on an airplane...all electronics go through the scanner...Those guys are trained to tell if C4 is hidden in a cell phone or laptop, I don't think they would be terrified of a basic digital clock. Since no scanner was required to see what it was made of, it is actually less scary than a lap-top or cell phone.

I think the real issue is that some people learn how to recognize explosives from old Road Runner episodes staring Wiley Coyote.

Yeah, it's a shame we don't trust a 14-year old muslim male with an activist father at face value when he brings a homemade "clock" to school. He admitted it looked suspicious.

His father is an activist for moderate islam...opposing extremists...I't a little third reich the way you guys on the far right use the word "Activist" in a deriding way.

Yeah, it's a shame we don't trust a 14-year old muslim male

14 year old boys that like to take things apart and put them back together don't scare me...even if they have brown skin..

The kids that scare me...and hell nearly every school bombing and shooting...are the white kids that are a product of the right wing hate porn and the huge throbbing lump of a fear center that gets fox news hyperventilating every time a brown person is in the news....Like Dylan Roof who shot those eight people of color while praying in a North Carolina church last year.

Your bigotry and fear mongering is infinitely more dangerous than an alarm clock, it encourages the dimmest bulbs like Dylan to go looking for brown people to shoot.

Indigo5,

Okay, Ahmed Mohamed is an angel, sent from Allah himself. There, satisfied?

You seem fixated on "brown people". Oddly though, despite your vigorous defense of what I would term Muslims, by characterizing them in the way you do you actually come off as racist yourself. Racism by definition is the stereotyping people of a certain biological trait into a group and then comparing the superiority/inferiority of that group to other groups (i.e. whites).

By the way, the rough religious grouping of "Muslims" includes people from the entire biological spectrum of humans from white to black (and everything in between).

Again, to my earlier reference of starting your argument(s) from a posture of the "brown people" (as you term them) are automatically a 'victim' by default. I vigorously disagree with this notion.

Equality is equality...the same rules apply to everyone (regardless of creed, color or ethnicity).

Binary fallacy...Forcing an either or of extremes...

You are not an "Angel sent from heaven" so my claim that you are secret terrorist employed in a larger conspiracy is true!!

Cut the BS...Lets stick to the facts.

"Brown People"...an accurate methodology when discussing right wing racists.

The racists amongst the far right...ARE Racists...not really bigots. Hispanic Americans, Muslim-Americans, African-Americans...brown people...that's what they have issue with. "OTHER" people that don't look like them.

By the way, the rough religious grouping of "Muslims" includes people from the entire biological spectrum of humans from white to black (and everything in between).

Absolutely true...But Fox News and the right wing seem only concerned with the brown skinned ones...and completely oblivious to white skin terrorists and religious extremists. So...yah..The right wing is scared of brown people. Illegal Aliens, Black Agenda, President from Kenya, Terrorist Muslim teenagers techies...etc. etc. etc. forever ad infinium..This OP portraying this kid and his father as terrorists is yet another example.

Dylan Roof was an extremist terrorist...this kid built a clock and the right wing is trying to create a story that would warrant sending him to Guantanamo.

Why the desperation and lies around this kid by the right wing and right wing media??

It is "conspiracy" worn as a hood looking to lynch a Muslim, brown skinned teen age boy...BS, ..Lies, Smear Campaign ..All so they can be less embarrassed about their fear and hate of brown people.

Pound sand!

You stick to your right wing extremist crusade...I've said my peace.

Arguing with you is pointless. Your mind is made up and you're going to keep yammering away in hopes that someone will sign up with your war. Me, well, I'm out.

No crusade or war necessary. One thing in life I have learned is that in the long term ignorance and BS loses. It's a natural truth.

I don't need to invest great effort to point out facts...cuz they are facts...

The right wing, however needs to pretend that..let's see...

(A) That a small town Sherriff and police department in Texas is participating in a massive conspiracy to elicit sympathy for Muslim-American teenager.

originally posted by: ghostrager

What is also interesting, is that this boy who has been invited to the White House by President Obama, was arrested even though the police chief admits that they knew it wasn't a bomb.

(B) That the boys father is a secret, Muslim-American Terrorist...despite the fact he has been here 30 years, is the epitome of the American-Dream story...from street vendor to entrepreneur..

originally posted by: ghostrager
Furthermore, his father has a history of being an activist for Islam in the public setting.

(C) That the word "Activisit" is scary..

(D) Ignore the clear fact that his "Activism" has been publicly centered on combating extremism amongst Muslims...Making other religions, including Christianity acceptable and not-illegal...widespread religious tolerance..was part of his political platform when he contested the dictator in Sudan.

(E) That clocks (when carried by "Muslim" Americans) should be defined as "half-bombs".

originally posted by: TexasTruthA Muslim brings half a bomb to school and gets an invite to the White House and college.

(F) That a Pencil Case qualifies as a "Small Suitcase"...when carried by a "Muslim" American..

originally posted by: theantediluvian I think we can all agree that a small suitcase looking device with a red illuminated display is a close second only to an alarm clock taped to a bundle of road flares in terms of suspicious looking devices.

(E) Maybe you guys aren't really singling him out because he is Brown or Muslim?

Oh..

originally posted by: IridiumFlareMadness
a reply to: lovebeck

And what ethnicity is most known for blowing things up with homemade explosives? Or do you really not know?

(F) It's not like anyone is saying the kid is a terrorist or anything?

originally posted by: Flyingclaydisk
And then...Dear Leader, reacting to the public outcry over some alleged social injustice, seizes upon yet another opportunity to parade a Muslim activist around the WH. Why not just invite OBL to dinner? Oh wait, another president already did that!

And lastly...NO...it was not a "Suitcase" or a "Briefcase"...it was a "pencil case" 8.5 x 2.5 inches

originally posted by: Flyingclaydisk
a reply to: Indigo5

However, this doesn't change the fact that an electronic device, clock or otherwise, in a BRIEFCASE looks like a bomb!

SO...Why does the right wing need to lie about...A pencil case being a suit-case? His father being a terrorist? The boy being a terrorist? That a clock is half a bomb....etc. etc. etc.?

Cuz they need a "hood", a pile of lies, by which to hide behind and spew ugly, intolerant rhetoric from.

It's not mysterious...And it's not new...Where is the President's birth certificate? Terrorist fist-bump?

Devout Muslim father offers Pepperoni Pizza to mainstream media

He has made unlawful for you that which dies of itself and blood and the flesh of swine and that on which the name of any other than Allah has been invoked. But he who is driven by necessity, being neither disobedient nor exceeding the limit, then surely, God is Most Forgiving, Merciful. - Quran.

Muslims prohibitted from pork consumption

Where are you going with this. So he bought pizza for the media, so what. That has absolutely no relevance to this thread, his skin color, his religion, his name, or the country he came from.

The last I heard, the father and his son are heading out to meet with UN dignitaries and then they are taking a sabbatical to Saudi Arabia. After that they will head home to see President Obama. All this time, you can bet the media will be hot on their trail all the way! No agenda here, folks....move along.

Yah..uh-huh...I hope Ahmed get's the hell out of that hick town..

From his school board in 2012

In 2012, the Irving School Board, which oversees just under 35,000 students in the Dallas suburb, got itself into a tizzy after a chain email was sent to board members warning, “Christians are going to have to stand up against the pro Islamic teaching in our public schools with CSCOPE curriculum” CSCOPE is a state-produced tool most teachers in Texas use to plan their lessons.

Instead of hitting delete like most human beings who receive chain emails, the board hired someone to conduct a full report on the matter. Not just any someone, but a good “socially and fiscally conservative” former social studies teacher who “watches Glenn Beck on a regular basis,” said Jan Moberly, the director of the organization that administers CSCOPE. If anyone was going to snoop out that pro-Muslim rhetoric, it was going to be her.

But did she find anything? No. After reading through every single textbook and producing a 72-page report—which the district paid her to write—the former teacher found in Irving’s textbooks a bias toward Christianity (which was mentioned twice as much as any other religion) and away from radical Islam. Whew.

a 'hick' town.... Is that not a racist and inflammatory statement yet it is ok since you feel you have the right to defend but not answer for actions and stand behind your free right speech while you fight harder still to have it taken away.

There are 3rd graders who can build robots and the WH wants this kid, of ALL of the kids, to come to the WH?

Never asked a soldiers child who lost a parent...
Never asked a cops child who lost a parent...
Never asked a homeless child to come to the WH...
JayZ though has been....

It is not a hick town because of where it is or because there are Christians...or because it is the same town that was embroiled in controversy regarding ISLAM in the school districts curriculum.

Sometimes the news is better than a TV show...

I've got a couple, simple comments to add.

1. If anyone tried to bring this "clock" on a plane, they would have been detained at minimum by the TSA.
2. If anyone tried to bring this "clock" into the White House, they would have been detained at minimum.
3. If Muslims have a problem with being associated with bombings...then maybe the Muslims should stop bombing.

irvingmasjid.org...

So no, it is not the same. This is contrived MSM WH BS....

To the contrary. The TSA would surmise it is a clock. That's what they do. They are trained to spot c-4 via scanners hidden in your cell-phone or laptop, somehow I don't think a clock is going to stump them.

It is the people who got their electronics education by watching the Road Runner and Wiley Coyote blow each-other up that panic at the site of a clock.

Also...are you suggesting that we should be screening our kids in school the same way as the TSA does passengers?

Or can you tell the difference between a school and an aircraft?

Hint..you can bring toothepaste and make-up to school and don't have to remove your shoes and belt.

3. If Muslims have a problem with being associated with bombings...then maybe the Muslims should stop bombing.

If ignorant racists and bigots have a problem with being called out on their ignorant racism and bigotry...then maybe they should stop being so effen ignorant.

Read this and think about it. Think about if YOU reading this thought he bought a bomb to school...

I don't think they ever thought he ever had a bomb.

I said: It's sad they thought that kid had a bomb.
She said: They didn't think he had a bomb.
I said: Yes, they thought he made a bomb and even called the police.
She said: They just wanted to humiliate a little Muslim boy. They didn't think he had a bomb.
I said: Don't be a conspiracy theorist. They might be a little prejudiced, but I'm sure they thought he had a bomb.
She said: OK. But they didn't evacuate the school, like you do when there's a bomb. ..
They didn't call a bomb squad - like you do when there's a bomb...
They didn't get as far away from him as possible, like you do when there's a bomb...
Then they put him and the clock in an office, not like you do when there's a bomb;
Then they waited with him for the police to arrive, and then they put the clock in the same car as the police.
Then they took pictures of it.
I said: Damn.....They never thought he had a bomb.

So using that line of reasoning, why did they arrest him?

If you read this whole thread, you would realize the issue is, did Ahmed, knowing the contraption might be taken for a bomb, attempt to cause disruption. Did he try to pull a hoax on somebody?

Did he want somebody to think it was a bomb....not did the police think it was a bomb. They knew probably immediately it wasn't hot. But, what they didn't know, was whether the kid was intentionally trying to cause concern among his classmates and/or a teacher.

The question is INTENT

What intentions did he have in shoving some guts in a case

There was no educational goal he had for doing such because he altered nothing but the case

What was his goal and what actions did he take to do it?

Yeah because one single muslim can just say "stop" and all the others around the world will immediately stop bombing. Furthermore, they all have cookouts with each other on a sunday, and they all share the same ideals.

I have a pretty simple comment to add - You are an idiot.

Why is it that we are ignorant...and racist...when we simply do not agree with you.

There is NOTHING racist about thinking a child could have a bomb. So, lets take the Muslim angle out of this. So, it Timmy Bush, age 14, brought a clock to school and there was overreaction and he was not charged with bombmaking, but a hoax, would you care?

NOPE!

Because it does not fit your mindset.

Again, WHO was the first teacher he showed it to who, according to him, told him that he should put it away and NOT show anyone else. Maybe there is more to this than meets the eye.
