Did you READ the article???
LOL did you?
As part of the plea deal, Copening accepted two reduced counts of disseminating harmful material to minors, WRAL reports. Like Denson, his year-long probation includes a ban on his cell phone. From the Fayetteville Observer:
District Court Judge April Smith sentenced Copening to a year of probation. During that year, her order says, Copening must stay in school, take a class on making good decisions, complete 30 hours of community service, not use or possess alcohol or illegal drugs, not possess a cellphone and must submit to warrantless searches.
You do know what a plea deal is, right?

As a side point, would you and the others that are upset that these kids are going through this still be as defensive if the guy had forwarded pictures of the 16 year old girl to his friends? Would you consider it posession of child porn if some 45 year old hacked the kids phone and published them on the Internet?
If it's acceptable for one guy to possess them, why not everyone? That's the point that needs to be made here.

Oh please. Some cultures thought that a 12 year old was an adult. The brain doesn't stop changing until the mid twenties. A 16 year old is not an adult, by any measure. Being able to ejaculate or ovulate and some body hair doesn't make one an adult.
Kids this age are stupid. You were, I was, experience is needed for maturity and that's hard to get in a short number of years.
