I click the "insert a link to a page or site" button. I fill in the "what name should be shown?" box. I click OK. I paste the url into the next box. I click OK.

But the url is then split up into two segments. One clickable but partial url (not the correct address,) followed by a few periods, and then the rest of the link which is absent.

Is there any way to correct this?

Peace.

Example:

atlanta.creativeloafing.com..." target="_blank" class="postlink">Source

EDIT: Solved by using bitly to shorten url.

This is what I get when I try.

atlanta.creativeloafing.com..." target="_blank" class="postlink">Source

Should I attempt to shorten the url via bitly or some such?

Peace.

Did you use wayback machine and then attempt the link after? Your link leads me to wayback machine. Not sure that works in links here.

I'll try using bitly if that's the problem, thanks. Yes that's what I did.

Ace, why use the link function at all? Just copy and paste the url from the page you want to link.

That resulted in the same thing, just without the code, unfortunately.

Using bitly to shorten the urls solved both problems.

Sometimes, if I paste in a copied link, the result is that the link begins "http://http://", so the surplus "http://" has to be removed before it will work.
I notice that your link has got http:// twice, though separated, so that may be part of the problem.

Your example is a way back machine link, and those have an extra http:‍// that messes the link.

For way back machine links you don't need to use that extra http from the original URL, you can post it like this (click quote to see it).

Good to know. Thanks.

I thought the issue had been resolved with bitly, and initially they DID work... however now when I click those bitly links in the other topic, I get an error saying

Well, without knowing that specific URL I cannot help you more.
