There's absolutely nothing incorrect about what he said.

And I will also say, that as a nation — the truth is a nation that in many ways was created, and I’m sorry to have to say this from way back, on racist principles, that’s a fact. We have come a long way as a nation.

You don't think that racist ideology was a factor in the American peoples' acceptance of Manifest Destiny? Ha. I suppose you also don't believe that racist ideology was behind the justification for chattel slaver of sub-Saharan Africans either? That's a whole lot of willful ignorance you've got going.

There sure was.

Want to know WHY ?

Because everyone living at the colonies at the time were SLAVES of the British Crown.

That means Black,White, and the 'natives'.

But hey now who really cares now. Real history isn't important.

I would call the genocide of thousands of Native Americans " racist ". Wouldn't you ?

To assume Pilgrims lined up and shot the Native Americans.

Is definitely how America haters love to rewrite history...isn't it ?

Have you heard of " The Trail Of Tears "

en.wikipedia.org...

Long time after The Pilgrims my friend.

Okay, we get it. You are a red blooded republican, good for you.

But to deny your racist history, well......

I bet there's millions of Democrats that are racist even today.

Here's an idea. Rather than get just that little snip of a quote from Dailycaller (Hacks). Why not listen to the complete statement from Sanders for yourselves.

Would you really say that the pilgrims held the natives as equal people? Hating America has nothing to do with telling it how it was. America was not exceptional in its up bringing. I don't hate America at all, I hate that we felt that the states were our God given right as per manifest destiny.

Nobody knows how it was...Nobody

Many died from a cornucopia of diseases they had no way to protect themselves.

I'm still waiting for my forty acres and a mule. Going to name her Hillary.

I owned land that you could still see the trail in Texas.

Times back then are not comparable to now.

Get angry with Col. Goodnight not me.

I am responsible for only things that happened when I am involved.

Such sacrilege!

Everyone knows we are 'responsible' for actions we don't do.

Ok. I don't think anyone was accusing you of anything. Nobody is blaming you for killing Native Americans or Having Slaves. You can relax. I think we can avoid any discussion of "Persecution against Whites" for now.

Why is it that any topic that discusses racism hard line conservatives always feel they must personally defend themselves???

EDIT: Nice example Neo. I'm glad you got that in there before I posted. You just proved my point exactly.

What?

I guess you never heard of the Indian Removal Act?

Let me introduce you to Andrew Jackson. State of the Union 1829:

Our conduct toward these people is deeply interesting to our national character. Their present condition, contrasted with what they once were, makes a most powerful appeal to our sympathies. Our ancestors found them the uncontrolled possessors of these vast regions. By persuasion and force they have been made to retire from river to river and from mountain to mountain, until some of the tribes have become extinct and others have left but remnants to preserve for a while their once terrible names.

Here he's admitting what you're denying. Ironically, he was trying to put a compassionate spin on forced relocation by saying it was ultimately for the native peoples' own good. The most infamous of acts perpetrated under the Indian Removal Act became known as the Trail of Tears — not the Journey of Gratitude or even the Path of Reluctant Compliance.

7,000 soldiers marched about 16,000 Cherokee from their ancestral lands at bayonet point. They weren't allowed even to gather their belongings. As they were marched away, white settlers looted their homes.

Median estimates are 4,000 Cherokee died of starvation, exposure, etc. Other estimates are as high as 6,000 died. That's just the number of Cherokee killed in ONE forcible removal.

BS, it is all documented, we called Indians savages put bounties on their heads and treated them as sub human.
Then stole their line and said we were just fulfilling a divine destiny.
Stick your head in the sand if you want but the truth doesn't changed.

Was the OP not about the foundation of The U.S. ?

If so then it refers to " Times Back Then "

You would be right, being a democrat doesn't prevent you from being ignorant.

No one is saying that, well you are to prove some fantasy point.

The Founding Fathers were racist. I thought everybody knew that. Landowners had to be white. Blacks couldn't vote.
Duh.

Just another reason not to vote for Sanders.

We have enough racial problems in the country without electing someone who will continue on in the same rhetorical mode that brought us to this point.

Not entirely correct and I am pretty sure you know it.
Hence the 'breaking away from the crown' narrative and the wars that it caused.

Real history isn't important.

Yes you are proving that.

Aint it interesting. That Sanders is championing the same entity that did all the 'bad' things to the native Americans, and the AA's.

Then that entity did worse things later on like throwing the japanese in the fema camps of their days,

And who can forget the tusk gee experiments.

But hot damn Sanders is the man, while admonishing past behavior of the US government clearly IGNORING quite a hell of a lot of transgressions since.

Why Sanders wants to run the show!

He 'will' get it right!.

When the reality is the entire thing should be burned down to the ground.

So again no proof that he hates all the rich people, only your assumptions.

He has never said anything close to that, just that he wants them to pay the same taxes and play by the same rules as everyone else.

Where's the proof that them evil rich aren't.

Plenty of rich people do plenty of good and don't bend the rules.
You are the one implying that Bernie and anyone for him hates all these people, so it is on YOU to show it.

But hot damn Sanders is the man, while admonishing past behavior of the US government clearly IGNORING quite a hell of a lot of transgressions sin

You think he doesn't know that???
Sorry that he didn't mention every single thing.
