Breaking in Western KY: A Kentucky State Trooper Shot and Killed

He made the decision to shoot the trooper and then refuse to surrender when caught as I understand the reports. All that was required of him was to drop the weapon.
What kind of crazy mind does such a thing? He had people in the car with him!

I'm just glad that no other innocent parties were harmed and no homeowner had to defend their families.


Just checked the local tv---one of the passengers has been charged.

KSP says 18-year-old Ambrea R.J. Shanks of Florissant, Missouri, has been charged with first degree hindering prosecution or apprehension regarding the shooting death of Trooper Joseph Ponder. The trooper was shot after conducting a traffic stop, when the suspect — Joseph Thomas Johnson-Shanks — fled before allegedly shooting the trooper. State police say Shanks was a passenger in Johnson-Shanks' vehicle and is his niece. There were three other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop: a 22-year-old woman and two children under the age of 6. State police say the children were released to a relative.

Apparently there were four passengers, not three as originally reported.
