More sticking up for the idea of not using two people to generalize many.
en.wikipedia.org...

We do owe plenty to the area where this religion started, it is a shame that the ME is what it is today based on what it was.
The same can be said about others as well, would say religion had its benefits thousands of years ago but now I don't think so.
At least not organized religion that breads fundies and fanatics.

I have that in an old textbook somewhere which quotes antiquities. It's laughable, but if you choose to use it to prove your point that it's okay to kick women because old white guys (or I guess Christians in your case) do it, then you go right ahead.

Glad you found it, because you are really going to have trouble coming up with anything recent or remotely intelligent that indicates it's okay to kick women.

I don't know about where you live, but in the U.S., men who do that go to jail.

This might sound harsh but these so called scholars and religious leaders are hadithist. They derive their religious teaching and laws from hadith books, not the Quran. Hadith books appeared over 2 centuries after the death of Muhammad. Most Muslims(at least 90%) have been raised to believe that the hadith books are an "extension of the Quran" and "the Prophets teachings".
The so called sharia law you also hear about are derived from hadith books. Hadith books are no more than Chinese whisperers.
They literally go like this, "Imam so and so heard from so and so who heard from his daughters brothers cousins friend who was a companion of the Prophet who heard the Prophet say something".

Hadith are unauthorized books that contradict the Quran. Hadithist however claim that they follow the sunna(doings) of the Prophet. God speaks of one sunna in the Quran, that's his sunna. The same sunna God gave to the previous prophets.
"The only Sunna to follow shall be God's Sunna." [17:77, 33:62, 48:23, 6:114]
So to claim that the Prophet came with his own sunna alongside God's sunna is to literally ascribe partners with God.

With that sort of mentality, cognitive dissonance arises like with the "Dr" you mentioned. Islam is simple. Islam comes from the Quran. It's that simple.

Why? Why do people feel the need to go out of their way to get into someone else's?

I think the better question is why they are having a congregation discussing if it's ok to beat women and justifying it. I'm not surprised these two women did that, seems to be a natural consequence of such evil theologies.

The fact that the women were beat for it also says so much about the religion. It's just sick, those women have us on seven pages they brought awareness and took a beating for it, they are brave and their point has been herd.

So only speech you are in favor of is OK? I know this is France but you're from the States. Do I agree with it? Hell no but I'm more in favor of minding my own business.

Then if that's the case.Shouldn't the faith schools of Islam be highly regulated by those that understand the original teachings of the Quran? Instead we seem to live in a world where the beliefs of the Hadith are being passed of as the peaceful teaching of an apparent begin book.
However, scholars like Dawkins and Hitchens, who claim to have read the Quran many times would argue it doesn't contain any peaceful teachings.

While it's totally off topic is like to share the singular Quranic verse that refers to Apostacy...

4:137
"Indeed, those who have believed then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief - never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way."

Where does the Quran prescribe the death penalty????

Nowhere.

OT:
Disgusting barbarians.
I'd only ever say to subdue a woman in self defence, with reasonable force.
If old mother Hubbard swings her granny bag, block it an hold her until she calms down...
If Rhonda Rosey goes for a rear naked choke knock her out.
If GI Jane pulls out a blade do whatever is necessary up to and including a bullet between the eyes.

If they get their tits out and interrupt a speech, grow the f# up, be patient, bid them Salam and continue when they're done.
Kicking?
Cowardly.

If you have to have a discussion about it . . .

Just sayin'.

I would really like to hear the mental gymnastics they would have to go through to explain the whole wife-beating scale of transgressions.

Dinner not hot enough? Allah says cuff her one in the chops. Burka showing too much ankle? A couple of cracks from your cane.

Friggin bozos.

Attacks you with a butchers knife?
How bout an uppercut.

This discussion needs to be had or we live in fantasy land where women are weak and timid and can do no damage.
Having seen and lived different, BS. Respectfully speaking.

That was difficult to watch. It didn't look like the actual security people did it though. The first woman was escorted or lifted off the stage. The second woman seemed to get rowdy crowd members after her. I hope she's ok.

Come on Charles. You know these tool bags are not referring to self defense scenarios. They are discussing when it is acceptable to beat women for violating some moronic religious code they think God gave them instead of respecting women (and all people for that matter).
