just over 25 years ago, CERN gave birth to the internet thanks to its brainchild fellow Tim Berners-Lee who developed hypertext, transmission protocol, and domain name hosting on servers as the backbone for the first 'web' which originated in Geneva and quickly propagated across the world; without it, we'd likely never have ATS!

with it, the world is at our fingertips what else has CERN invented? and what might CERN give rise to in the next 25?

Looking at his history the guy was a human computer by the looks of it who could solve complex problems by hand/mind so probably he was the first thing at CERN where you could present a question such as (3x+2x+6=0) and get an instant answer etc, i remember at uni we was doing some maths module and it was matrix manipulation and our tutor could pretty much answer everyone of the questions we threw at him with barely a close of eye but he did have 2 masters in maths and just couldn't be arsed to do a PHD

remember a computer is just a computational machine it can't do anything a human can't invisage but it can do it a hell of a lot faster

Imagine being these people who gave birth and paved way to the modern Internet we know today? The net was around before this but it was a lot more simple. These guys jump started what we have today.

I wonder how they feel about that? I would feel pretty darn accomplished if you ask me. there are a lot of dark places on the net and an entire culture of stupid kids using the Internet but still, there are a lot of amazing and highly useful things about it that make it nearly impossible to live without, these days.

Not really, what Tim Berners Lee created was the World Wide Web.
Hypertext is the oldest invention, having been created in the 1960s, Tim Berners Lee had the idea of using hypertext over the Internet as a basis for information distribution, so he created HTML, the first web server and web browser in the process.
TCP and DNS already existe.
