and the other thing was the blurred out nether regions in one of her videos where she's naked on a subway, and the dark, lower blur makes it look like she had a fright wig attached...er, "down there." Leading to her nickname in my house... monster box.

Lol. That was "Thank you".

That kinda put me off too at the time.

Ah, yes. It's great to get old. Thanks for reminding me.

I saw her on the tour for this. Not bad, not great. Mostly unmemorable but I've been around the block a few times so I'm jaded.

While I have great respect for Billy Corgan, I don't really like his music, and JLP was good, but not that good that year. Spock's Beard - The Light brought back old school prog(ish) and launched a pretty damn good band, even if no one has ever heard of them. That's my album of the year. Even with Deep Purple returning from the Ritchie Blackmore fiasco with Purpendicular(a rather great album) the Mighty Beard still takes the album of the year.

Meh, what do I know.

I saw her on the tour for this.

I saw her at the Phoenix festival in 96 , thought she was really good plus it was the first time I'd seen Taylor Hawkins and he just blew me away , great drummer.

Yup one hell of an album, used to be in my CD player for years.
Every song is great and I can't believe it's 20 years old - wow.

This is so haunting.

I also really liked this version.

Same as everyone really... LOVED this album - It's all killer and no filler.
Brings back memories, I was probably 16/17 and really liked this album.
The opening couple of tracks in particular were just kick ass.

Thinking back.... we'd go mountain biking and my mate would have Jagged Little Pill, Offspring - Smash, Fun Lovin Criminals - Come Find Yourself and a few other CDs on in the car and we'd all be smoking out... listening to music.

Good times.

Yeah, it's right up there with Creedence's 'There's a bathroom on the right.'

LOL!!! Yeah, I was like 8 when that song was a hit, and my aunt (who was 16) and I would "lay out" in the sun and listen to AM radio on her transistor (this was in the mid-60s)....

I swear that I was CONVINCED that was the line.
I heard it a few weeks ago and sang along with it: There is a bathroom on the right!!

(In my house, there is, btw).

Alanis' Jagged Little Pill is one of my absolute FAVORITE albums.
Thanks, OP, for so effectively age-dating us all.......

released in 1995 it launched the career of young Canadian singer / song writer Alanis Morissette

It wasn't really what launched her career though, at least not in Canada. She was a pop star here in the early 90s before finding massive commercial success globally after she suddenly went "alternative" instead:

Isn't that ironic?

Also bonus - this great punk cover of You Oughta Know:
