Please cite an authoritive source that backs up your claims that 1) Jesus' teachings in the books of Matthew and Luke don't apply to Christians or their churches today

Most churches are Paulian... Not CHRISTian...

They follow Pauls words... and place them as more significant then the gospels...

In fact most so called Christians don't even know the gospels... but you can bet they know Pauls words

None of those words you're citing from John are the words of Jesus.

They may be the words of Paul but they are also the words of God.

1Co 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

To ignore those words is your own failure.

But let's use OT then, none of those words are Jesus. Let's look at the Book of Job. A recording of his life was written by Elihu and then handed down through the centuries and we have them today. They are the word of God as well.

a particular verse I like is this

“Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.” Job 31:6.

Throughout all of my posts and threads you have used your own special weights to measure me with. But they have been anything but just weights of true judgment. And even balance has two sides to it. But you are always adding weights to your side and taking weights from my side judging me with your unbalanced unsaved scales then you willfully wrong me in these posts.

Calling me names like Hater, Homophobe and claiming that all my posts have been hateful. Yet you produced no evidence to show where I hated anyone or feared anyone, or even that my posts themselves are hateful.

You have used a balance judgment based on your unjust weights and it is unfair to me while you claim to be a just one. Judging is a balance yet you seem to think only Christian judge wrongly yet you prove even unsaved people judge incorrectly.

Please judge yourself before you weigh judgment on others.

Pr 20:23 ¶ Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

Not only do I know the Gospels. I know my Old Testament as well.

If you only stick to Jesus words only you have four books to call your Bible.

The OT to you is irrelevant because Jesus did not speak them, and of the OT he only quotes a half dozen or so verses.

You would not have all the words of God needed for life and godliness.

2Peter 1:16 ¶ For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 ¶ We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2Peter 3:11 ¶ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Oh! So, you can quote the Old Testament, when it suits your agenda, but if I quote it, like in THIS post, that only applies to the Jews. I see.

I quote it often you see your judgment is in err

Not only that I can show you what verses in the Gospels that apply to the church today and those that don't and I can show you which in the OT apply and are used to support church teaching today.

But you are unsaved and it would be useless for you can't teach the dead anything about life.

the spiritual is foolishness to those who are perishing. Do you need the address

notice I said "most" Christians, Not all...

There are plenty that know and live by Christs words... its just not the majority of them

Regardless, there is nothing in the OT that is needed... said for books is all anyone needs

Hey, did you read Akragon's post up there? About how lots of you follow Paul rather than just Jesus???

Did you just say a little bit ago that the 4 gospels (which contain alleged quotes from 'Jesus' himself) are useless on their own??

But you are unsaved and it would be useless for you can't teach the dead anything about life.

This is ALERT-worthy. Watch yourself, sir.

you must be kidding me.

Do you know the physical, mental and spiritual process that leads to one to suicide is found in the OT?

I would be more than happy to PM regarding it, if you like.

Buzzy I follow Christ and as Paul said,

Php 3:17 ¶ Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

We follow Christ who will change us. we use Paul as a ensample to live our lives by. Nothing wrong in that nothing Paul did was different from the teaching of Christ. ALL men who come to Christ today are made one man in Christ whether they be Jew or Gentile.

I don't believe in your god, so you personal attacks and judgments against the quality of my character are moot.

It's easy though, to point out your own hyprocisy, which has been done countless times, in this thread alone. All your self professed superiority and dancing around the issues in question, that you've been doing, doesn't fool anyone or change the blatant hypocrisy that you're flaunting.

Shaking my head.

Wow. So, a thumper accompli.

Nice.
May I ask a question? Why do you think the rest of that mess of literature, erotica, child porn, incest, war stories, and homicidal/genocidal psychopathy, dietary and fashion dictates, etc. (i.e.: ALL of it except the actual words of Jesus) is important?

Short version:
Why is anything except Jesus's words important to you as a "Christian"?

Like I said... nothing useful...

Though that kinda makes me wonder... You think pastors try to explain said verses to those who are suicidal

or do they just call said person a sinner and tell them to turn to Jesus?

then stop telling Christian not to judge or call themselves Christians.

Go post things that have nothing to do with the Bible or Christ and try to make us think you know more about the Bible than we.

There is no hypocrisy Like I said you remove and add weights her e and there in your judgement yet you are wrong.

Buzzy I follow Christ and as Paul said,

Whoa. Wait.

This is like saying "a friend of a friend told me this about my friend, so I believe it"

WHY can you not simply go by what your guy Christ said? Why do you need some other political turncoat to tell you about it?

Contemporary example: If Glenn Beck says something skewed about Bernie Sanders - I will go straight to what Bernie says rather than falling for it.

it not only tells you how you got into that state, but it can tell you how to get out of the state. That is useful to those who struggle with it.

It's also found in several of Shakespeare's works too.

That's probably a pretty easy solution in any case...

Christianity is based around self hatred... so if said person happens to be a Christian the solution is simple..

Get away from your church and try to live a normal life...
