I always remember Robin Williams talking about how the Japanese felt about WW2.

"Damn, we bomb one harbor, you nuke our towns!".

Seriously? Tough Sh!t. People forget about the "Greater Asian Co-Prosparity Sphere" the Japanese were working on. This wasn't one big Asian Pacific family, this was all of Asia under the yoke of the Japanese. Things had been going down hill since the mid-1930s. The US figured we'd be fighting them by the Summer of 1942 until they kicked things off on 7 Dec.

They tried to take over the Pacific, had the Rape of Nanking, the Bataan Deathmarch, the atrocities when they overran Singapore, and they paid for it by getting the nuclear mushroom stamp on their foreheads.

People look at the Japanese people to day, all sumimasen, sumimasen sumimasen today, and say what a meek society. Well before the end of WWII they were some really fight to the death, life has zero value, Geneva Convention is for wussies type of people. They were not a society one would want to engage without a nuke in your back pocket.

I'm STILL waiting for an actual answer to this question from a single person on this thread. It appears that no one has one.

8 pages essentially containing apologist bollocks for the events of yesteryear.

And barely a mention of the indiscriminate bombing of London and other major British cities by the German Luftwaffe.
en.wikipedia.org...

Over 40,000 civilians killed.

But I guess that's ok because they were only British?

The thing is; it happened.

Obviously the deliberate targeting of civilians is morally questionable - but its war and war is a very nasty business and people get killed.
The very object of war is to do everything within your power to defeat your enemy before he defeats you.

Which is why we should heed the lessons that history teaches us, something that is impossible if looked at with jingoistic rose tinted glasses or PC driven self-loathing.

As for Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
A terrible episode in history - but a lesson mankind had to learn.
Since then no other nuclear weapon has been used in anger, and that is simply because we are all too aware of the realities of a nuclear explosion.
If it had not happened then it would sure as hell have happened at some point in time and probably with more powerful weapons resulting in even more death and destruction.
It is because Hiroshima and Nagasaki happened that we should all strive to ensure that it never happens again.

And surely any definition of a WMD would be relevant to the era in which they were deployed.
I am certain that the predominantly Belgian and British civilians indiscriminately targeted by the German V1 and V2 Flying Bombs in 1944 and 1945 considered them to be WMD.

Propaganda runs deep in this one.

What did MacArthur have to say on the subject?

Exactly. The initial reaction was that it was some sort of trick... conventional fire bombing combined with poison gas. Only the Americans, Brits, and Russians understood what nuclear weapons were. Had they not been used, some idiotic leader might have got it in their head that it was all some kind of bluff, or that they could be used in a "limited" way.

If you are American, this is a call to action. It's more than a game...

If you possess (at least) rudimentary knowledge of history, please be heard.
Defend your countries history program. You might recall what you learned in school? That's the program.
Give it your best shot.
Careful, you might incriminate yourself.

Call in the thinkers... operatives and the evildoers... State your case.

Did German and Japanese civilians deserve to be intentionally targeted in WW2?

The attacks on Japan and Germany were unfortunately warranted.
Harsh language just didn't cut it.

Here something for you all to chew on.

www.colorado.edu...

Should i believe the propaganda? Or the men who actually fought there?

Ill go for the latter. Just another pointless massive human sacrifice. But hey, if it gives you an excuse to justify hatred for people youll never meet..

Well, probably not. But it looks like they haven't learned their lesson yet. Germany is right now building up concentration/training camps for incoming refugees to turn them into either jihadists for Syria or Nazis for Ukraine. So Germany is again one of the hubs of ideological disorders in the world. Obviously other persistently fascist countries such as Italy (Idiots never learn, Italians even less) take also part in these types of operations for the training of terrorists. Meanwhile the EU is pretending to being in the middle of a refugee crisis. There is no crisis, that was all planned long ago by Eurocrats and Eurogarch who want 2 things: cheap labor, and degradation of EU living standards.
