Well there's definitely that. Plus the fact that Lovecraft spoke of the inspiration for his story, primarily a film he saw repeatedly in 1933 called Berkley Square.

en.m.wikipedia.org...(film)

Personally, John Titor was probably more creative than this. It's a bunch of New Age hocus pocus. It was discussed at an energy healing seminar in Virginia a couple of years ago but prior to sept. 2013 I can't find any earlier reference to it.

I bet if the people 5 thousand years ago said they went to the future and everyone was riding horses they'd be FOS. Just like people won't be driving cars in 2 thousand years. In 20 years people probably wont be driving cars any more. In 2 thousand years they won't exist.

They exist, sort of, just way too dangerous for everyone to use them, and the maintenance is far too costly. If every time your car broke down you crashed and died there would be very few people driving cars too

That's no helicopter, it's even scarier.

But my bets are on a man sized quad type thing. Semi autonomous.

You're right, it's not, but the idea is the same, personal flying device.

The cost of upkeep would be so crazy on anything that flies though.

What's with the blatant derailing of the thread?

Surely one post containing all points is more in keeping with ATS values?

Got to wonder sometimes.

A great story nevertheless.

Yes, story, not real.

Maybe all of the stuff he wrote only happened in his timeline?

Joking aside it is a pretty cool story - I mean in his mind this was real and as we know that the brain has no way of distinguishing reality from dreams etc, maybe it doesn't matter if it really did happen, because in his mind it most definitely happened.
Unless he's knowingly hoaxing of course.

It's obviously faker than a politician on the campaign trail.

Obviously. However, I went into reading it with an open mind and let my opinions fall where they may.

That being said, I expected better from a hoax of this nature

Although I do like the sounds of it, it does sound like Sci-Fi.
What wrapped it up for me:
The notes left from the teacher where confiscated by the Greek Army because they where in German - He doesn't need to provide proof of having the notes with this cover story.

This reminds me of a book I read called the Smoky God when I was like 10. It was written in 1908 and everything sounds like it was ripped from that book.

Tons of people during that time period were obsessed with "Hollow Earth" as back then Expanding Earth Theory was prevalent as plate tectonics did not take hold until the 50's. Many surmised that if the earth was expanding it left a hollow void on the inside.

I would wager there was an original text following the basic story outlined in the OP but, from reading, it seems someone re-wrote it very recently and probably added to it.
