Two police officers were gunned down by a man and a woman today as they were eating lunch in a Las Vegas pizza restaurant, officials said.

The couple were later found dead, after they had shot and killed another person at a Walmart store nearby, the sheriff said.

Two Cops Killed in Las Vegas 'Ambush'; Three Others Dead

There are two more to add to the growing list of officers being killed.

A man and a woman walked into Cici's Pizza and killed these two officers.

They told one witness "it was a revolution".

They later killed another person in a nearby Wal-Mart and then killed themselves.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of those who lost their lives.

This sounds familiar, like something that happened last year....

Coincidentally, the date on that article says this happened in June of 2014.

Not sure if you know about this page or not - Officer Down Memorial Page.

It provides stats for officer fatalities and breaks it down by type (gunfire / auto accidents / pursuits / health related / etc).

Yup yup..

also here is the article your op is about -

Las Vegas officers ambushed in shooting - One officer shot in the hand

An officer who was shot in the hand was being treated at a hospital, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sgt. John Sheahan said. He was in good condition.

Police haven't released the identity of the suspect, who was later arrested by the officers.

The officers were in a marked patrol car, police said, responding to a disturbance call at a local business.

"They were ambushed on the way to that call," Sheahan said.

Undersheriff Kevin McMahill praised the officers, saying they showed "remarkable restraint" when they took the suspect into custody.

"These officers are going out there and being attacked while they are sitting in a police car, and we didn't fire a single shot back at him," he told CNN affiliate KSNV.

McMahill said his department has changed the way it deploys officers, sending out two-officer units "because of the narrative of violence against police across the country."

"We are certainly working on pins and needles," he told KSNV. "(That is) part of the reason we doubled them up. So we have two officers available immediately whenever an incident occurs."

Looking over the stats I noticed something:
33 officer deaths were in the deep south states from Georgia to Texas. (GA, AL, MS, LA, TX). All the top 5 states for officers killed.

That's 33 out of a total of 83 for the entire US.

Law Enforcement is more dangerous than what some people know or recognize. Its why I get involved in those debates on this site. Hours of extreme boredom followed by seconds of sheer terror followed by days of Monday morning quarterbacking by those with no clue who decide to willfully remain ignorant instead of learning about what actually occurs.

The number of civilians killed by police is way to high.
The numbers of officers killed is way to high.

Communication, respect and communication (in both directions) is a must if we are to end the cycle.
