Perhaps the yanks should help out with this refugee and immigration crisis. They started this crap. You can thank them for the fall of Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the rise of ISIS. "we're only there to support the moderate rebels". Moderate rebels my arse.

I see what you are saying but my point was, if money can be provided for the refugees, why can't he put some more cash into other ailing areas like the NHS.

Well these bombs that we drop creating humanitarian crisis like we see here dont pay for themselves. Never mind the NHS, forget about the hundreds of thousands of families in the UK living in poverty we have a £100 billion nuclear arsenal to maintain.

He can, but he doesn't want to. Austerity is a cover for making welfare cuts and amputating public services (no shocker just classic Tory policy). It is not required and it's widely agreed that it's not helpful to the economy.

This is a pretty interesting take on things...

'How the NHS is being dismantled in 10 easy steps'
www.independent.co.uk...

6. Run a Smear Campaign The Government’s case for change largely rests on the premise of the NHS no longer being affordable and that it needs to be modernised. Yet we spend significantly less than the EU average and the likes of France, Germany and the Netherlands. Out of the G7, only Italy has the same level of spending. The Commonwealth Fund rates the NHS as the best healthcare system in the world and the OECD describes it as one of the best performers in the world. It is overwhelmingly popular with the public.

Funny seeing as the NHS has not only been ring fenced from cuts but in fact got the best part of TEN BILLION pumped into it.

I know your from Liverpool so il explain in simple terms.... Ten billion is a bigger number to 100 million.

But I know what's it like in the north money grows on magic trees and the government has a limitless credit card to bankroll all your benfit freebies up there so you don't have to get jobs!

let's annihilate IS already!
stops the killing over there as well as the waves of refugees.

obviously not a good idea to the politicians...

Could not agree more.

So many of the murdering scum bags that call themselves IS are British born. The mass flight from Syria is because of their behaviour. I say send British troops to collect them and bring them back to face treason charges (for shaming us and bringing us into disrepute) and if they forcibly resist this repatriation, kill them.

Every time I see David Cameron on TV he's always banging on about how the government can't afford the benefits system, NHS and social housing, and then at the same time anyone who is anyone can enter the country and claim everything.

That's why you need to work it out for yourself, stop watching one or two MSM outlets, research and get with the agenda that has been going on for decades, only then might you understand

Woaaaah, who pissed in your Cheerios? A little uncalled for don't you think?! Doesn't phase me mind, I'll just sit here on my lazy arse and revel in the fact I am drinking beer and smoking fags that you have paid for in a house that you have paid for with my 15 kids

Seriously though, the 'ringfence' was done away with, here it is right out of the Torygraph's mouth....

blogs.telegraph.co.uk...

And even before that (again from the Torygraph itself)...

David Cameron and Jeremy Hunt have been ordered to stop claiming that NHS spending has increased after the official statistics watchdog found health funds had fallen.

What I am wondering is, if Mr. C can cough up £100m for this, can he not cough up £100m for the NHS?

He didn't just caught it up, he took it from allocated budgets for aid.
Governments work with ringfenced budgets for all kinds of things, they don't just go to a cashpoint and take out a few million for something when they need it.

This is already allocated to aid, he's just using it now as an opportunity to look less like a c**t now that the British public has shamed our government into actually DOING something.

Even so, that something is not even close to enough. When they say "thousands" (plural) they mean exactly 2,000, not one more. And when they say refugees, they mean taking them from an easy place like Turkey, rather than assisting any of the many thousands in Calais or in Hungary.

Make no mistake about it, our government is still being a pathetic excuse for a government. We helped make this mess by supporting a dictator for decades when it suited us, and no one considered the consequences when our corporations and arms manufacturers were making a few billion a year from these despots. Now he's made a peace-meal, highly cynical decision to make what were were already duty bound to do more public, just to save face.

Cameron was backed into a corner, and rather than do anything actually relevant he's repeating what were were already doing as though he's made a "moral choice" to help these people.

Welp, all the folks here in ATS were gripping about illegal immigration and refugees coming there via illegal channels.

So now it's legal channels. I wonder what the argument will be against. Although I do understand that the social services are already strained under the current number of folks claiming benefits.

~Tenth

Services are only strained because of cuts by the Tory government and a failure to deal with youth unemployment. There have been repeated failures by all governments to reign in waste, along with repeated failures by our governments to collect taxes from corporations abusing our systems - something they are still doing to this day without any real challenge.

If we could get the lazy teenagers working, the lazy absent dads paying for their own kids, and the corporations actually paying the taxes they owe, the NHS would be fixed within a year and we wouldn't have such a problem with services in this country.

Maybe he's going to start hassling the big companies for all the tax they owe and have gotten away with up till now?

These people are coming here, risking their lives, their families lives, to escape persecution, torture and all the other goodies ISIS has to offer.

This is different to the Polish, Romanians, Bulgarians etc coming here and sponging off us or taking British jobs.

I say this as a UKIP supporter, and on behalf of UKIP supporters....let them come, they need our help....I know Nigel Farage supports this.

This quote says it all:

www.washingtonpost.com... d=pm_world_pop_b
“Hungary is a poor country. They can’t give us the life we’re looking
for. ...” said Yahya Lababidi, a tank-top-wearing 21-year-old law student from the northern Syrian province of Idlib. “We want to go to the rich countries.”

Dude, you're one of the people I respect on here, I enjoy your craic...but that was a wee bit harsh.

The North is so screwed up because the Tories killed industry up here, once upon a time the North was the Steel/Coal/Nuclear/Engineering capital of the modern world, Thatcher soon destroyed that and it is still recovering.

I started my own business because there was nothing in my field up here (IT specialist), and although I could have carried on a pretty good job for Sellafield, my principles stood in the way (totally anti-nuclear, especially when it comes to places like that which hide such a nefarious safety record).

I wish a lot of other people up here could follow my example and start up on their own, but people just loose hope too easily.

Well perhaps your perception is wrong. I also run my own business so that's 100% of us so far "making something of ourselves", it makes me laugh that as soon as you start speaking out against cuts you get branded a layabout. To be honest, your comment was so sweepingly ridiculous I thought you were joking!
