What works in Australia won't work in the U.S. Believe you me. You have no idea how out of our minds we are over here.

Well we can try to find statistics and compare crime/economy ratios I suppose.

But there's little evidence to suggest that good economic times have much effect on crime. Crime rates rose every year between 1955 and 1972, even as the U.S. economy surged, with only a brief, mild recession in the early 1960s. By the time criminals took a breather in the early 1970s, crime rates had increased over 140 percent. Murder rates had risen about 70 percent, rapes more than doubled, and auto theft nearly tripled.

Crime and Economy: What Connection?

Criminologists say bad economies create more crime; economists say the opposite. But recent data reveals neither explanation is right.

The Puzzling Relationship Between Crime and the Economy

Hmmm.

Every single person in this thread pretending to know why this is happening is full of crap--nobody on here knows, and to speak with authority as if you do does nothing but further the divide...the same divide that has probably lead to at least a few of these murders.

I can't wait to read your treatise.

$h!t happens and it is our prerogative to ask why said $h!t happens. That is what unites us. Speculation can be healthy if it is used in moderation.

Now, government handouts and all the unintended consequences of those programs ? Oh boy, that right there is start!

here's the problem with that:

when they give handouts, they don't give enough for people to actually survive on in today's economy or even the economy of 20 years ago. instead, they spend outrageous amounts in military expansion and global domination and then blame the lack of funds for the poor, unemployed and infirm, on the taxpayers (who by the way, are lucky to have jobs to pay taxes with, from the looks of it)

if you are a taxpayer and have a job, consider you may be the fall guy for the globalists, since all signs seem to be pointing in that direction.

Something is amok for sure. Why have they failed to solve this problem?

Personally I think it has everything to do with economic decline. We've seen it throughout history. When people become poorer and start to struggle more, they become more desperate. This results in crime, which results in more crime, which results in more...

If the government really wants to get a handle on this it needs to work on finally getting rid of the ghettos, leveling the playing field between rich and poor, and fixing the economic crisis they've done nothing but paper over for the last decade.

You can look at what is happening in Venezuela due to economic decline and the state nationalizing certain industries. When you have people desperate to even get a meal, eventually they are going to either give up and die, or take what they need through violence. The weapon or art used is a matter of availability, not the reason for it.

I believe the economy is in real bad shape in the US regardless of fudged numbers being put out by government. When they just quit counting people out of work because they gave up after not being able to find any job, then the numbers look good. Good for government, good for Wall Street. But, the people are desperate. I know from personal experience how difficult finding a job has been and I have an excellent resume and work background. So, imagine the people in the poor areas of the US, like third world areas. The have nothing and no prospects of getting anything anytime soon. They decide they are going to get their needs by any means necessary. The drug issue is just a force multiplier because you now have desperate people not thinking right, and seeing money exchanged for drugs, and decide they have to use violence to get the money or drugs (probably both).

Chicago had the toughest gun laws in the country. That didn't stop the gangs and most of the murders between them to be from guns. And if criminals suddenly couldn't get guns in the US, you can bet you bottom dollar they would be smuggled in like the drugs are. If it makes money, it makes the trip! You cannot undo damage generations of policies have created. Poor education, poor job skills training, government trends driving jobs out of their own country, etc,. are all coming home to roost. It will take decades to get this turned around, but I don't believe that is the plan.

But, if you listen to the way the wind is blowing, you can't have people in Venezuela making $10 a month and people in the US making $5,000 a month. All the preparations seem to point to a catastrophic event taking place and a leveling of quality of life and income globally. Whether it is man made global financial collapse, or some natural event, tptb are and have been preparing big time for many years. I think the increase in murder rates is due to desperation that people are not being told about in the MSM or by the gov. They are painting a rosy picture, while the roots of the tree are being eaten away by termites. You will see a larger increase as the desperation increases. I think they know what is going to happen here with all the guns on the streets. There will be a large loss of life and property and that will make the people desperate enough to take the globalists answer to the disaster. They have very effectively divided the population between each other and the authorities. This fuse is lit already, it is just a matter of how much time until the explosion breaks out in earnest. The question is, will the people wake up to what is coming like a thunder heard in the distance and unite and destroy the real problem with the corruption at all levels or fall for the ploy and destroy each other.

communist tyrannies don't allow for the educated. a small elite group are educated and literally everyone else is dumb as a box of rocks, either by design or by pretending to be dumb. you aren't allowed to have your own opinion and the larger group of people who helped the tyranny gain control, are slaughtered right along with the rest of the educated. this is why they are targeting taxpayers as the enemy because paying taxes signifies you are smart and/or educated enough to have a job and keep it. in tyrannies, alpha type A personalities are killed off, as they are a threat to the elite. it's just a return to the dark ages, ad nauseum.

Came across this video today. Well worth the 11 minutes. It really points out the systemic inequalities in our governmental and socioeconomic construct that I believe is a direct cause of where were at today as a nation.

The title might say race baiting 101, but it's MUCH deeper than that.

he makes a good point: when the poor slave races cared about each other, they formed a formidable front. but when it became only about one group and not the other, it helped the tiered system to grow. if one side starts gaining favor, the other revolts and the favored side enjoys their new, not so awful position and vice-a-versa. so the elite are just warning us, if you insist on forming an united front against us, we'll turn you against each other with race baiting. this has been going on for years now. they snatched up the civil rights act out of the dead hands of martin luther king, and ran in the direction of making blacks the new favored race, at the expense of the whites, so they could once again, create that divide and conquer scenario. all lives matter is a threat to that but black lives matter is not.

How about it's a result of people completely feed up with the systemic political corruption within our government (all levels), crappy economy since 2008, lack of hope/opportunity for improving one's financial disposition and increasing racial tensions?

Oh wait, let's just blame it all on an inanimate object instead...

This is stupid. It has nothing to do politcal corruption. It has everything to do with a total disregard for human life.

Ask one of the perpetrators why he did it and the last thing you are going to hear is "You're foolin' yourself! We're living in a dictatorship. A self-perpetuating autocracy in which the working class..."

Hard to believe anything you have to say after you refer to guns as a "penis-extension".

It's also hard to take anyone seriously who dismisses proven facts that don't jive with their world view.

Can you please point out the peer reviewed studies that prove that a gun is a associated with apparent self consciousness regarding penis size?

No, they invented the Mafia - much scarier fellows than drugged-up wannabees.

Question: Was Martin Bryant a 'drugged up wannabe'?

Perhaps it has to do with the accepted premise that males are more prone to violence than females. Therefore an allusion to phallic symbols would be appropriate.

No?

Stupid? Really? Come on man...I said none of what you just attributed to me.

Did you watch the video I posted? It's a good example of the systemic corruption at the top and how it's led to the decay of social, in this case, inequality. What we see around us is a direct result of the class warfare thrust upon us by those in power.

eta: Ok, maybe not necessarily "systemic corruption at the top", but most certainly a concerted effort to keep the "poor" at each others throats and distracted from the real issue plaguing society.

Not to mention MS-13 and other gangs plus everyone's favorite Mexican Cartels which are expanding their distribution networks in in everyone of those named cities.

But yes lets take away the guns from the law abiding citizens that way just like Mexico, only the bad guys will have guns..... Mass graves to follow.. absolutely stupid..

I hope you are right about the cops, it's what I have been wanting all along. for the police to show up to work and stay at the station until people realize they need them. And for them to do their job without being criticized for a very small minority of people who shouldn't have been cops to begin with.
And you are wrong about them not being very good, again it is a very small minority that are worthless.
