llege student would be sole voter in CID sales tax decision
According to state law, if no registered voters are in a district then only property owners vote. The property owners had their city council draw a
boundary excluding every resident in the area, except for one. A 23 year old University of Missouri student. Besides the obvious story of collusion
between owners and government the issue that's coming to a vote is the proposed sales tax.
A half-cent sales tax has been proposed to help the district with its debt problems, specifically, the debt incurred by the property owners. The
nearby residents were going to have no say in whether or not this tax happens but would absolutely be affected by it.
I hope she votes no, just to spite them.
