Not sure where to put this one. Not exactly the best thing to install to "cool people off" at a former concentration camp.

Anyone up for a mist shower while at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp?

Maybe sell some T-shirts? I survived the shower at Auschwitz?

freebeacon.com...

The proprietors of the Auschwitz concentration camp have found themselves in hot water after installing showers in the former Nazi extermination camp in a bid to “cool down” visitors to the onetime slaughterhouse, which is now a museum commemorating the Holocaust.

Mist showers have reportedly been installed at the death camp’s entrance to help tourists battle the high summer temperatures in Poland, where Auschwitz is located.

However, for some Jewish visitors to the museum, the showers have evoked harsh memories of the execution of more than 1.1 million at the death camp, many of whom were murdered by being marched into showers filled with poison gas.

I don't think people should be comfortable visiting that place.

Oh, I about lost it there.

Yeah, the "caretakers" really didn't think that one through.

Considering what happened there, I don't think that showers and Auschwitz really go together.

The Irony is compelling.

probably not the best choice! but a simple and cheap final solution

and it is far better than potentially damaging an important historical site
by installing air con units.

and as another poster put it is a place to learn and remember just how depraved
mankind can get not take a comfortable stroll.

i am not of Jewish heritage but i fully understand the significance of this site
and look forward to being uncomfortable there myself one day.

And nobody saw that coming?

On the other hand, the camp itself didn't evoke such memories?

Not sure what to think of this.

That might be a good idea.

I was there like 20 years ago, and it was a horrible experience for me too....so boring.

It really left no impression, I remember eating a hotdog from a stand outside of the gate.

Just being honest.

They are making too much of this.
The showers look nothing like the death showers.
Plus the pictures of people using them look cooling.

"please leave all valuables in the bins provided before entering the showers''

I've been to Auschwitz twice - 2009 and 2013

incredible place..

in 2013 i was wandering around on my own and went to the rear of the camp outside the fence and found a really narrow stream snaking its way through a grassy area.

in the mud about 2-3" under the water was a torn up, muddy Israeli flag.

I can only assume there was some sort of anniversary and the flag ripped off the pole and floated into the mud and there it stayed.

It now has a proud place in my trunk of historical relics.

I didn't tour Auschwitz but I did go on a trip to the Dachau concentration camp in the 87 or so before the walls came down.

I remember the silence was very eerie.
