I came across this little gem on digg.

The youtube video shows a 3d printed rc engine.

It seems to be electric. And the neatest thing is that this guy has built in a thrust reverser on his engine.

Printed in a Prusa i3 3D printer with ABS Plastic, 0.3mm nozzle 0.1mm layer height.

- 100mm diameter 18 blades.
- 24 outlet guide vanes.
- 34mm diamenter 18 blades internal turbine for cooling the motor.
- Thrust reverser, complete system with translating cowl, blocker doors and cascades.
- NTM 1400kv 35mm motor

Full throttle run test with a 3S battery.
Thrust Reverser test at half throttle.

The post on the forum goes into some detail on the build.

The Op says the engine is a scale Boeing 787 turbofan.

rcgroups forum

He has another video in the forum with the fairing off showing the working of the thrust reverser.

It's impressive what this guy did at home. He must of put in a lot of hours making this.

A YouTube search turns up quite a few of these...

Have any of these actually been put to use on RC planes yet?

I wonder if some can come up with a template for a small 3d printed desalination machine...

However if they can build this. They can certainly build a gas powered version.
