Ok didn't know he was in there, yours is a long video, over 1 hour (people will not watch such a long video in most cases) but I have seen most video's on this subject already.

I have known it was a problem for 4 years now.

Four whole years.

But, if you think we should do something about it, what would that be? In light of this recent post of yours?

How do we know man made is the root cause? My opinion is we do not know for sure the root cause. If we knew for sure we wouldn't be discussing it.

Past history shows us volcanic activity, oceans warming and rising have been a problem in the past causing humans to relocate to another place and or higher ground.

Patterns are emerging suggesting solar weather plays a huge roll here on Earth.

It seems that you don't think we have much say in the matter, it's out of our hands.

Now, now... I would suggest you don't dish it if you can't take it. lol

Methane IS a huge problem and when we have explosions... well.... people will then take it serious and not argue over the silly crap anymore and really do something to make this world better.

So complacent.

Maybe the governments will figure it out. Let's watch football and listen to lying politicians make promises we think they will keep. Who cares. haha. Don't watch the video...

I am still watching the video: The global warming kinda got off on the wrong foot with all their doom porn and saying the arctic would be ice free by 2015.. Do a search; those who have looked at this already know the B.S. that was put forward due to inaccurate computer models. Second point of contention for whatever reason people have lost faith in government sponsored research and government pushed reasons for taxing ... Many things from pharmaceutical companies pushing unsafe meds, Monsanto pushing food stuffs and herbicides that are banned in many countries, to the stupid lies that are told to invade countries.. Maybe none of that is correct but there are plenty who believe many things that are official are officially contrived to help the few while hurting the many.

Methane is a big deal it just depends on how much is released.. Even the doubters would agree with that if they have a 10th grade education... before common core 10th grade... now I don't know.

With all the attention on weather change or climate disruption we should start getting better models and observations. Hopefully as the data is gathered some real science will come out that can convince the masses one way or the other..

A chilly Arctic summer has left 533,000 more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year – an increase of 29 per cent.

The rebound from 2012’s record low comes six years after the BBC reported that global warming would leave the Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013.

Instead, days before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia’s northern shores.

Seriously?

I don't care what the cause is at this point. I stick by what I said. It's not priority. Priority is ACTION. How many times do I have to say it to you. "Cause" has nothing to do with the OP. Get with it.

I know... people are lazy. They would rather argue the cause than take action.

Taking action to them is calling their representatives and lowering emissions.

Not good enough...

Methane IS a huge problem and when we have explosions

You mean like, actual explosions?
Do you know what the concentration of methane required to do that is?

What do you suggest?

You postilion is where I have been for a few years on the issue however the proof seems undeniable lately. The computer models may be right... the ice is melting in real time. We can see how much ice has been lost and it's alarming.

I'm fine with you convincing me otherwise. Watch til the end though so you can really give an equal opinion. I watched it all.... a couple of times.

Did you notice the title of the video? Methane bomb?

I suggest not waiting another year to figure out a plan. I suggest in the OP we all rally and come together. Together we can figure out a solution and implement it. We can't wait on politicians.

Examine the threat together is a start. Let's examine it shall we.

If warming is being caused by the Sun (I'll ask again) what do you think we should do about it?

Ice free in the summer they mean with that. It may happen in the next few years.

There still are a few weeks to go before sea ice can be expected to reach its minimum, at around half September 2015, while sea currents will continue to carry warmer water into the Arctic Ocean for months to come.

"Methane-Explosion Craters Could Be Latest Indicators of a Warming Planet

Newly discovered funnels in Siberia are believed to have been created by methane gases bursting through a thawing permafrost."
www.commondreams.org...

The problem with the issue is many want to argue the cause. While the cause is important, we have no time to debate what could be debated forever.

What is important is finding a solution. Move to higher ground if we can't figure out a solution in time to stop the warming of the atmosphere and waters.

Numerous newly discovered massive craters across Siberia—believed to have been formed by methane gas exploding through a thawing permafrost—may be the latest visible signs that climate change is here, and it's changing the very contours of the earth's surface.

We cannot deny the change is here but this change is different from past few centuries. Yeah... we need to sit up and pay attention. We may not go extinct but we don't need to waste time doing nothing. Where would the ice melt? It would totally flood North America I would think.

Greenland is going to be green again. lol

As Peter said we need a new kind of Manhattan project. Finding a way to get co2 out of the atmosphere, so an invention to make this possible which needs lot of funding and research. Also finding a way for stopping methane getting released which is stored at the artic and Siberia, like fracking it out and storing it somewhere safe or something similar.

No of course we rather pour insane money in defense and fight people in the desert hidden in caves... while this basically is far more dangerous.

I don't recall saying the Sun is the root cause of oceanic and atmospheric warming?

I didn't say it had anything to do with Methane?

I said in the OP and AGAIN in the thread what I suggest. Read it.

That would be nice but there is no single solution. It is a highly complex problem.

However, since the OP does not believe that human activity is the cause of the warming trend, I'm curious to find out what solutions she has to offer.

This is normal when you look back on history. No need to wonder the cause as the cause is really of no importance. We cannot change mother nature. The Sun has a lot to do with our weather and climate.

Oceans will rise with the melting.

This was about what would be expected if most of Greenland melted. The next time that happened, sea water would swamp coastal regions where a good fraction of the world's population now lived
www.aip.org...

The US future map is now coming to mind.
