I will carry you, if you fall,
Walk with you, through it all.
Hold you up, when you can't stand,
Never, will I let go of your hand.
I won't stop believing in you,
Even when others decide to.
I'll defend you until the very end,
That's what it means to be a friend.
Secrets are kept by everyone,
Skeletons' in everybody's closet.
Things that just can't be undone
Even though we didn't cause it.
Never again do we speak about,
Better to leave them in the past.
Memories we can do without,
Shadows no one wants to cast.
Push them to the back of the mind,
They sit just below the surface.
Reasons for them I cannot find,
Don't understand their purpose.
Let them slowly just fade away,
Along with all the hurt and pain.
You don't need them anyway,
No reason they should remain.
Move forward, let the past go,
Pretend that it didn't happen to you.
Not like anyone else would know,
And there was nothing you could do.
Just keep talking, I'll keep walking
To the beat of my own drum.
Until what you say, in some way,
Makes me want to listen.
You could be right, I don't want to fight,
Or argue the point of contention.
If it makes sense, I'll come off of the fence,
But not to hear you bitchin.
Just the facts, no personal attacks,
and I'll listen with an open mind.
But if you troll, or become an a-hole,
well, I won't be wasting my time.
You Own it
Look deep inside you, so you can see,
What truly is offensive to thee?
Is it the words, that someone else speaks?
Or in yourself, do you have no belief?
Are your own demons, getting in the way?
Why does it matter, what people say?
Why do you let them, effect who you are?
Let them stain your soul, leave you with scars?
You are the one, who decides to get offended,
You control who you are, not the weak minded.
So, what keeps you from realizing that in the end,
You are the cause of your own grief my friend.
Your own doubts, that's what gets in your way.
That's why you get hurt, by what people say.
Then you expect others to vindicate you,
Because you cannot face, your own truths.
