Take a Pill

Give me something to forget,
My life and all the pain in it.
Is there a pill that I can take,
To take me to a different state?

Of mind, it just doesn't shut down,
I need one to dampen the sound,
Of the voices I have in my head,
There's a pill for that, someone said,

That I could get one for my anxiety,
To make me act normal in society,
So this is what is normal now?
To pop a pill and walk around...

With a body pumped full of meds,
To keep the demons out of their heads,
They keep themselves medicated,
All their emotions eradicated ..

And we wonder why people don't care,
Maybe they're just unaware,
Because of all the pills they take,
They no longer can think straight..

"They're mommy's little helpers". They're daddy's "white rabbit".
Prescribed to help us cope, but morphs into a habit.

Cope dope. We need our cope dope. How else can we make it through these trying, lying, dying days ?
