Searching for a screaming sound
capable of communicating my anger,
a swear word broad enough to
include my thoughts of violence.
Ambivalence should disappear like a mist
on a hot day of seeking justice,
but victims scream and writhe
and we pay attention to Trump.
Indignation hides behind media smiles
and their “now for the weather.”
We are distracted by the traffic snarl
and the road rages around us.
People beg and pray for distance,
distance from horror, hunger, and hate.
“Holy one protect us from the fate of others.”
If only I could get a new car, I can't wait!
Capitalism your are my whore,
you promise me pleasure
and that for a few dollars more,
I won't have to feel any pain.
Starvation, torture, slavery are
words that should never be spoken,
We say they only exist at a distance
they have no impact on me.
I am screaming, screaming
and there is no ear to hear.
Little child your hunger will soon be over,
your last breathe will end it once and for all
Oil, gas and coal will continue
but we will run out of joy and happiness.
Celebration will end its run,
the love of money will turn the world black.
I'm screaming, screaming...
