True, but then again why would you buy a shirt not being a fan and all?

Peer pressure? Wanting to have it, just because? Who knows.

My whole point is is that it's identifiable pretty quickly as to what it's referencing with the "Luke" instead of "No". It's marketing.

But if you're a geek obscure references are far superior to mass appeal.
So by wearing a "Luke" shirt, you're demonstrating that you're not a true fan.

I completely agree. And there are tshirts with the correct quote on them too.

I think pretty much all bases were covered with the quotes (be it proper or wrong) on their merchandise. Apart from people who didn't know or didn't care about Star Wars.

ETA: you added a bit that could be interesting.

Maybe they wanted to separate the "Lukes" from the "Nos" as part of a geek exercise, to see if you were a real fan or not? Just a stupid theory I thought of lol.

You guys just dont get it..... it was always "Luke........... I am your fathhhhhhhhherrrrrrrr........., not. " NO, I am your father" all rushed like that, even if they kept LUkE in there it STILL would sound wrong with out the dramatic pause and the way it was drawn out, it is too quick and brisk now, not just the words that changed.

Or you remembered it wrong.

But let's just say it was alternate timelines with no evidence, because that's so much more plausible lol.

Rather than simply relying on one's memory; which is often faulty at best.
Why does not some one find a VCR tape of the original release and upload that segment onto the site. It would not be hard for "them" to have altered more recent releases of a movie, but the closer you can get to the original the more likely you are to get a copy which has not been changed.
It would, after all, be kind of hard to change every copy of every VCR tape which was sold at that time. "They" would have to find out where all these tapes were and then gain access to them without the owner's knowledge.
An argument over memory is just that and not a discussion.

Oh, didn't you know?

Some people are from a different timeline completely and magically popped into this one. That's why they "remember" differences.

That's why all the video tapes here would say "no, I am your father".

So there will never be any proof. Ever. Just denial that they have fallible memories, like everyone else.

They are changed right back to the originals, and most people under 30ish, remeber it as, NO, and ironically, the older people who have a chance to watch it from childhood on, and many many more times, remember it as Luke...

I'm almost 37. I remember it as "No, I am your father".

I apologise for interrupting your Santa discussion but I thought I`d just add a clip that may be responsible for people remembering the wrong quote.

So here it is

Perhaps you have seen this or any of the other parodies to remember it wrong because personally I don`t remember..."Luke, I`m your father". Or you are from a different timeline or universe
lmao, I love that stuff, and I remember the thumb wars as well....too awesome.
hahaha

Wrong again, It was always No.

Those who claim it was "Luke" just have faulty memories and follow the meme.

But your memory is faulty, that's obvious. Everyone's is. If the physical evidence doesn't agree with your memory, then it is your memory that has changed.

Again, this applies to ALL of your "MEMORY" studies.....

Witnessing an event and recalling it in a different way is much different than ingrained memories.

I have use the word "Milk" for an example before... it is ingrained in your brain through nearly every day use. It is a common knowledge word, we dont even have to think about.

If tomorrow it shows up as always being spelled "merlk", people will notice, and it is in no way the same as two different people witnessing the same event and having a different perspective.

MILK, is burned in our brain, ad MERLK, would sure as hell look alien!
