One year we decided (on the 20th of December), that we didn't want to deal with the hassle of Christmas, so instead grabbed our kids and headed over to Italy. Spent 10 days travelling, in Tuscany, on the coast, down to Rome...it was awesome! Our kids were all in their teens at that time and it was the last family trip we all took together.

The Tuscan coastline is quite nice, I think, other than Calabria, it has some of the best beaches. Did you take any photos you can share?

My youngest son dubbed this the Church of Too Much. LOL!

Yes, it is very over the top. The Vatican takes it to anther level with the amount of chapels and artwork placed around the basilica.

Thanks for sharing your awesome pictures and so much detailled descriptions!!

Glad you enjoyed them.

Nice. Been living in Tuscany for years now.

The coastline is nice but the beaches themselves are terrible. Just full of empty deck chairs. That is one thing that I dont like about it. They charge up to 60 euros for a deck chair for one day. The public free beeches are much nicer anyway.

Live near Lucca, medievil walled city. Beautiful.

How come I cant see photos when not logged in? It says 'click on image' but nothing happens. Whats going on? This is happening on all ATS threads.

Must be wonderful. Next time we're in Italy you can buy me a Menabrea.

Then you should certainly go. You will be planning your next trip while you are there.

Glad you enjoyed it. If you do make it to Rome and Florence I recommened getting advanced reservations for the Uffizi and Vatican, the lines are incredibly long.

I agree with the poster above you!
How on earth did I miss THIS thread?

The photos feel so rich (not in the monetary sense!).
It is lovely...
My birth father was from Belfast and my oldest daughter wants to travel there when she graduates...

She says she feels a connection a reason to go there...

You appear to have a wonderful life Mason, enjoy it!

(oh how I miss bolognese!)

Bumping the thread as I'm heading back next month. Venice, Florence, Rome. Maybe a few other stops in between.

Anything in particular anyone wants to see a pic of? An ancient ruin? Some mafia Don? Migrants? Let me know and for $5 I'll get it for you.

How beautiful! thank you for sharing. I have not yet been to Italy, but it is definitely on my bucket list. So much culture and beauty. Any recommendations?

It really depends on what you want to see/do. Venice is great for architecture and cuisine, Florence certainly for food and also for art, Rome for history and art, Naples and south for the beaches. What is it that you want to do most?
