and instead of just locking them away we could give them a better life.

Do you have any idea whatsoever how many legal citizens want a better life? Do you have any idea how many citizens are unemployed while an illegal holds a job? And...illegals are in many areas of the workforce and not just picking crops. Do you have any idea how many homeless and hungry people we have? Do you have any idea how many of our citizens have to choose between food or life saving medicines? Do you have any idea how many people make a dollar or two over the poverty limit therefore fall through the cracks and get no help whatsoever? All the while, illegals are having their needs met and are being taken care of and rewarded for breaking our laws.

When an illegal is placed above a citizen and treated better, there is a huge problem.

As for lives being more important than money, why aren't you concerned about the lives of our poor citizens who get turned away from a job because hiring an illegal at sub standard wages is cheaper for a company?? Do their lives not matter?

Of course their lives matter! But place the blame, not on the desperate people filling the jobs but the greed of those hiring from a standpoint of profit and greed. Now you know why they busted the Unions.....no protection for the workers, legal or illegal; just more profit for the corps.

I have always blamed the people hiring them. They should be fined heavily or imprisoned. People have to realize that not all illegals are desperate or from dangerous areas. I have worked many years with illegals and many had no intentions of staying here. Some have saved money and returned well off to their Country of origin. Many say they can get a lot here. Many have fraudulently gained benefits from welfare. They will even tell you how.

I get so tired of hearing that it is only the poor and desperate who come here. Many have paid big bucks for stolen identities and fraudulent documents. They come right out and tell you themselves how easy it is.

What about the hundreds, thousands, and more of people who have immigrated to the United States legally? The people who have given blood, sweat, tears, and years of their lives to become American citizens the legal way? Are you really that apt to just spit in their faces?

Let's round them up, sure. But send them back.

How would we be spitting on anyone's faces?

Whats wrong with making them go to the back of the line, making them pay a fine, biometrics and background check fees, and application fees?

You say the people that did it the legal way gave "sweat, blood, and tears" for their chance at the American Dream and good for them. The people that are here illegally sacrificed their life to have a chance to give their families a better life. They crossed deserts stuffed in the back of 18 wheelers and risked death to come here. I say anyone that is willing to risk their life to get here deserves a chance.

So my question is if the majority of illegal immigrants tend to be poor unskilled workers what makes you think they would be in any position to pay a fine, background check fees, plus standard immigration charges?

So then the new debate becomes how do you try and force the poor to pay these fees? It's not right, etc. Well if nothing else there is a cost for processing a large number of people. Who pays?

Federal and state governments? Ok they are on a budget . So you move resources from some other program to finance this. Who loses? Schools, public assistance, police, firemen? What program or current service is affected to implement this? Anyway you look at it something or someone looses.

Businesses? Ok that's a new cost what's the reaction by them, reduce employee benefits, cut jobs, cut charitable contributions? Again someone else loses

New or increased tax? On what? Again someone loses, who deciedes? And to be honest when all the logistics are worked out and the winners and losers are determined, what does that do for the attempted integration. Losers will be upset. Not going to be happy .

Limited resources are reality no matter what someone says. If they werent the concept of things like budgets, conserving anything would not exist. While things like this are just tossed out the people doing seem to lack any ability to see long term issues.

Also things like background checks. Ok common sense. What if we don't have access to their home countries criminal databases? Do we risk it? Say if we don't have access to the that info your countries people can't come? Where does that debate go?

Obviously if poor and unskilled chances are an increase in social services will be needed. Again where is money coming from? Who are winners who are losers? So throwing out all the human and emotional arguments and looking at it from resource and logistics standpoint. Plenty of issues that need to be worked out and ptesented. This isn't blaming anyone for looking for a better life nor being inhumane. These are reality and questions that would need to be answered in a realistic, honest, and open manner

the bottom line is they want something for nothing. yes, they have to work hard when they are illegal because reputable places don't hire criminals who illegally enter the country with no documentation. that is why they have to work less than desirable jobs. and that is their own fault.

That is why I said "The ones I have known".

There is always someone who will be against.

In any case, someone feeling offended is not a good argument against a nation doing something. If so nothing would ever get done.

Firstly one must ask yourself just why they want to leave their own country. Why don't they stay in their own country and work hard and make it a better country to live in. There can be various reasons, in the US illegal immigrants cite a better life, in the UK they cite "we are escaping persecution in our own land". I think in both cases they are moving for an easier life.
Yes, you can say if you were in their situation you would do the same but it doesn't make it right when the countries can't look after their own people.
The main reason that will cause conflict in the future(if you want to bury your head in the sand with this reason, so be it) is ALL and I mean ALL the illegal immigrants do not and will not integrate into their hosts society. They keep with their peers, they keep their way of life that they lead in their original countries and sooner rather than later they WILL alter the demographics of your country.
By that I mean THEY WILL drag your country down to their original countries level. We are seeing it happen very fast now in the UK, but we are a small country compared to the US, but make no bones it will hasppen in the US and when it does all your bleeding heart retoric will not give you your country back.

Ah. There it is. When they breathe and start costing money, they are no longer babies that need to be protected.

Rounding up families with babies and children and sending them to nowhere has nothing to do with abortion.

Nope, just like the unborn are not protected.I want a Lamborghini.

What is the meaning of "unborn"? As long as fetus is connected to umbilical cord, it is in its natural protected environment.

They are in our collective (American) territory attempting to illegally obtain a better life that Americans have built here in this country.

First answer is "Native Americans".

What's stopping the current government from doing just that?

Elements within it need this issue to create another threat to erode our 4th, 8th and 14th Amendment rights in the name of a contrived enemy, so they can turn the US into a Prison State.

Yes, and let's trash The Constitution in the process, so anyone can come and get you and deny you the rights you used to have. If The Constitution does not apply to everyone, it is worthless to everyone.
