Well it seem that I have to add my 2 cents...

cent 1: All of the technology you take for granted today is a direct result of space exploration.
cent 2: Much of the science we enjoy today is a direct result of space exploration and the application of technologies made possible be space exploration.

To the point: that machine you use to read and post on ATS is a direct result of space exploration, and would not exist otherwise.
