You're down with this silliness as well?

You really believe tha Fascism, Communism, Socialism and Totalitarianism are all exclusively Left-wing?

If anything, this thread has taught me that no matter what I believe, there will be someone who will disagree.

I think that any despotism is bad. I dislike a government that wants to control people's lives.

Don't really care who's in charge.

Johnson/Groot 2016!

(Sorry I couldn't have you lead the ticket)

I'll talk to him.

But he'll probably just say, "I am Groot".

So. . . well.. . . you know. . . .

Do you have any botanical offerings to sweeten the deal?

You are Groot after all...

I don't think so. There is a scale of 1 to 10 in the OP.

I see. My point was not clear.

I was playing off your comment about despotism under left or right being the same so a left or right society with greater individual freedom should also be the same.

A society with greater freedom is NEITHER left NOR right.

Personally, don't want to live under a "left" society.

Nor do I want to live under a "right" society.

Both extremes, are a big "nope" from me.

I don't know but since the idea is that any and all societies fall somewhere within the spectrum, unless it's right smack in the center, if you live in some society you will be living in one or the other.

This old video is from a popular TV show.

The on topic part in particular is starts at 9:24

Can you hear it?

Nobody has mentioned it yet.

It's Academic is the name for a number of televised academic quiz competition for high school students through the United States and internationally. It's Academic programs have notably aired on NBC-owned WRC-TV in Washington, DC, NBC affiliate WVIR in Charlottesville, Virginia, and CBS-owned WJZ-TV in Baltimore, Maryland. The Washington DC version of the show has been on the air since October 7, 1961, and is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-running quiz program in TV history. The program was created for WRC by Sophie Altman, who continued as executive producer until her death on May 24, 2008. Mac McGarry hosted the Washington shows from the beginning until June 25, 2011. Hillary Howard, a news anchor for Washington radio station WTOP-FM, took over as host subsequent to McGarry's official retirement in November 2011.The Baltimore show is hosted by David Zahren. The show features three local high school teams of three players each. Over the years, chief sponsor Giant Food has given more than $2,000,000 in scholarship funds to participating schools. In 2014, James Hubert Blake High School became the first ever school to win three consecutive super bowls in the Washington edition of It's Academic.

Dictators?

I don't think it needed mentioning.

It only makes a difference if we are forced to use the american version of the single line political spectrum.

Wrong, Fascist is far left. Far right is anarchy meaning no government. It's obvious the the right tends to hate government. I have never seen a right fascist that believes in government control.

NAZI - stands for National Socialists.

Only thing they have similar to the right is the nationalism. Socialism is from the left. Big government is from the left. They have more similarity to the left.

Here is a little educational video for u. www.youtube.com...

That at the time of the show 3 of the 4 were no longer in power?

Stalin suffered a stroke.

Hitler lost a war and ate a bullet or hitched a ride on a sub.

Mussolini was voted out of power and the king was reinstated.

I think I know what you are trying to say but to me it just means life goes on.

The USSR remained communist and italy switched sides but still had a single ruler.

Something to ponder. Both "sides" see themselves as against government overreach, and yet, the only thing that both "sides" actually agree on (implicitly) is that government overreach is happening.

IF both sides see "the problem," but we each believe wholeheartedly that someone else is doing it ... where's the third or "causative" factor?

This is not as simplistic as "both sides are doing it." Because just as surely as I am convinced that "my side" is basically innocent, there are those of you here who are just a thoroughly convinced of the exact OPPOSITE.

...

...

Nah, that's just silly; IT'S ALL THE REPUBLICANS' FAULT!!!

That's Bush's budget. The 2009 budget is set the year before. Just like the 2001 budget is Clinton's (also the last one with a budget surplus).

First, Let's remember that there were not budgets, only 'authorization for spending' bills between 2007 and 2013. In effect, they 'deemed' a budget.

Second, Bush's final year overspending in 2009 was set to be under a trillion dollars as of September 2008.

Then the housing crisis occured and TARP was signed after the September 2008 cutoff. That's on Bush.

Then between January 20th 2009 and September 2009 Obama and the Democrat super-majority added the Stimulus, Ombibus, SCHIP expansion, and a few other 'goodies' that added just over a trillion dollars to the 2009 spending. Those were not Bush dollars.

Stimulus ~ 787 billion
Omnibus ~ 300 billion
SCHIP ~ 30 billion

So that's 1.17 trillion in spending during the 2008 to 2009 fiscal year that was not implemented by Bush or a Republican controlled (or even half-controlled) Congress.

Meaning Bush overspent by about 300 billion in has last year, and the Democrats quadrupled down before they even had their first chance to authorize a 2009-2010 spending bill.

So tell me, in light of this evidence, who actually increases the size of government?
