The major similarities outweigh the minor differences.

Many are quick to apply that to the other guy but, point out the whiskey rebellion, after someone claims that early american gov was all about freedom and all of a sudden that isn't as important.

What was Goebbels known for again?

Oh yes, propaganda.

What does propaganda mean again?

propaganda: noun pro·pa·gan·da ˌprä-pə-ˈgan-də, ˌprō- : ideas or statements that are often false or exaggerated and that are spread in order to help a cause, a political leader, a government, etc. information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. Merriam-Webster Online - Propaganda

Here's another Goebbel's quote, a bit shorter than yours:

“It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle. They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas and disguise.”
Goebbels - GoodReads

Interesting choice of reference though! Quoting the man probably best known in history for professionally propagating lies (except for maybe Lucifer himself) as your source.

I guess when Hitler defined National Socialism as completely directed toward the German Nation and People, he wasn't kidding.

Every statement Goebbels made points to NATIONALISM, not SOCIALISM ... as has been said here more than once.

So, according to your sources, Mussolini didn't agree with the Socialists and founded the Fascists in opposition to them?

Good find, Xuenchen!

PS: From your source:

Mussolini was expelled from the PSI due to his opposition to the party's stance on neutrality in World War I.

Mussolini denounced the PSI, and later founded the fascist movement.

Again, great find!

So no one wants to deal with the the fact that the right-wing is so desperate to paint Democrats, liberals and progressives with the communist/socialist/fascist brush so as to have yet another short-hand method to avoid dealing with facts?

Wow ... tough crowd.

My bet this thread will just further show how liberal this site has become and the lengths the mods go to silence all those that disagree with it!

Sarcasm of course.

good thing you added those last 3 words....there are not a lot of liberals left on this site that actually speak out...go to search and type in the word "obama"....89,000 results come up, then go through the pages....geez, it looks like a FOX NEWS wet dream

So he was lying? Is that your argument?

Then he must have been lying about his views on jews and nationalism. Maybe he was a kind hearted individual underneath his propagandist veneer, since he was the greatest liar in history according to you. It looks like he even had you fooled.

Last I heard, propaganda was about promoting views, not hiding them under other ones. Maybe you should look what propaganda means again.

And the end result was the same - total power and control to the state, complete abdication of personal property rights and liberties.

This is the point many have been making. In the US, one end of the spectrum stands for more government control. ALL ideologies that land there go to that end whether they are fascist, socialist, communist, totalitarian dictatorial, etc. The other end stands for less government, more power to the individual, and all ideologies that that land there go to that end, including true anarchy.

That is the US left/right axis.

You think he's telling "the truth"? He's making public speeches. No, he doesn't have me fooled either. I know he's not a socialist.

If that's your definition of propaganda, one of two things is likely two: you don't understand what the word means, or true, you're intentionally misrepresenting it.

As far as your bit about the Nazi position on "the Jews" it would seem that history has answered that question for us.

He wasn't kidding.

It appears you do not know what propaganda is. I would suggest a little research, preferably a little more than a dictionary.

And that simplified classification is the wrong tool which is why someone came up with a 2d graph.

As usual, you didn't read. Show us where Mussolini called for "complete abdication of personal property rights, etc."

Right, the end result was totalitarianism, what we usually call Fascism, which is and has been right-wing.

The point that you and your corhorts has been making is incorrect. You want to paint the Democrats (liberals, et. al. but lets be real you're talking about Democrats) as totalitarian. We aren't.

Your end stands for just as much government, just as much authoritarianism, as long as YOU are in power. You're not for less government spending, you're not for less government control (witness, state control of abortion, removing voting rights, no support for equality for gays and lesbians),

Have you noticed that no one but your own bunch is buying this garbage, but thanks for confirming that your only interest is in trying to damn the Democrats. I hope you don't try to play a lot of poker.

The left wing has always been about personal freedom, opposition to control, and assuring equity before the law; the right wing is about control and obedience to the law, adherence to and enforcement of "traditional" family values, is authoritarian if not totalitarian, etc.

Says the person who thinks propaganda is being open and direct in what a politician says and claims.

Take your own medicine, Doc. Don't bother to call me in the morning.

Right. That's exactly what I said. What else can you pull from thin air? "Yes, Goebbels was lying, but only about the socialism part."

Hmmm ... did I say that?

No, of course not.

Perhaps you'll show us where the "socialism" you're talking about was imposed by the Nazis then?

Now that you know what socialism actually is ... when were the "means of production" turned over the public, or to the workers? There is no version of socialism or communism that describes what the Nazis did.

If there is, show it to us. Stop whining about me.

Monarchs are still subject to laws ... I think they meant to put in Dictator in the 100% slot.

Or Mr. Obama of course, since that means the same thing to the terminally deluded.

The Nazi party leaders explicitly expressed that they were socialist. You've implied that they are lying. How are they lying?
