shooter on Amsterdam-Paris train - 3 injured. 3 US marines overpowered shooter

This is just breaking and all I am seeing are tweets

French train spokesman: An armed man was overpowered by passengers and arrested in the station at Pas-de-Calais - @lemondef

No more info but I wonder how many lives were saved because the passengers took action? Was it another ISIS attack?

Gunfire broke out on an international train Friday evening that left at least three passengers wounded, France's state railway said.
The shooting occurred near the town of Arras in northern France around 6:00 p.m. local time (1600 UTC) . Local media said the unidentified suspect used a Kalashnikov-style assault weapon in the attack before being overpowered by the train's passengers.

That's scary... however, I'm glad they managed to stop him before more people got injured - or worse.

Nice to read a outcome that differs from past similar events. To the passengers that put aside personal safety to disarm a potential mass murderer, bravo for their actions.

That's a no win situation. You arrest him and he becomes a religious prisoner that can be bartered for. Or you kill him, and he becomes a religious martyr to inspire others.

Made me smile seeing the press describe the US Marines as "unarmed". If they still do the unarmed combat training that they used to, anyone who thinks they'd be an easy unarmed target is sorley mistaken.

Just because someone hasn't got a weapon on them, it doesn't mean they aren't more harmful than you and your gun or knife.
