All I'm saying is that if they were at least given a choice then I'd be good with it. The system we have now is NOT working.

Just to be clear, you're in favor of slavery?

Quite clearly I am not, why don't you try reading my post again and not twist my words, thanks. I use the word CHOICE at least twice in this tread. Perhaps you should look up the definition then compare to the definition of slavery then maybe you will understand what I said, thank you come again.

Oh, I read your posts. You seem to be in favor of the definition of slavery but only against the term.

This could be cleaned up and some of the terminology and details changed a bit and its not really a bad idea.

All I'm saying is that if they were at least given a choice then I'd be good with it.

make it kind of a indentured servitude thing

they can stay and work for the state for a said period of time then be granted citizenship.

If a person is against rape, they're against it no matter the circumstances. If a person is against child abuse, they're against it no matter the circumstances. So if a person is against slavery, they're against it no matter the circumstances.

What you're saying is you're in favor of slavery, depending on the circumstances. You didn't once mention paying them for their work. And you didn't say how long they should be state owned property, much less what other hurdles they'd have to face in order to gain the carrot at the end of the stick (eventual citizenship in your example).

Why not just admit slavery is bad & start over w/ a new idea? Or admit you're in favor of slavery if we call it something different?

Wow, just wow. I lived in Iowa for a few years and let me tell you something. Those farmers loved the illegals coming into the state. I then began to witness the local population begin to verbally dehumanize their existence like they were nothing, not even the dirt they walked on, or the crops they helped to plant or harvest. In my head, those poor people were already treated like slaves, now *they* just want to make it *slavery* legal again?! Sad sad sad....

Anyone that supports this needs to read the biography of Fredrick Douglass. Then they can read, from first hand accounts, what real slavery was like.

Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

It seems that only applies to people that aren't brown skinned.

Louis Farahkan says blacks should rise up and kill white people and everyone defends his freedom of speech.

Some guy says illegal aliens should be slaves, and everyone loses their freakin' minds!

Neat thing about free speech, nothing says you have to listen.

So we're not allowed to be opposed to anything? I really don't get the point you're trying to make.

No one in here is saying that this radio host should have his rights taken away from him or that he should be jailed for saying the things he said.

What most people in this thread are saying is that this radio host said something vile and disgusting and are disagreeing with him when it comes to whether or not other human beings should become "assets of the state" or slaves.

Nice straw man though.

mental duress is painful. just so's ya know.

Believe me I know an here I am stronger than I have ever been. Funny how that works aye.

then you need to think a few steps ahead on the chessboard cause if a republican is advocating making slaves for the state, you know he's advocating communism

Stop with the communism BS. History shows that it's not just commies or socialists that had slavery.

Rome had slaves and they were a post-republican monarchy.

Don't forget the recurring calls to "glass" the middle east made from many Conservatives either jokingly or seriously.

Oh, they're serious. Remember when the waterboarding & torture scandal hit? They bent over backwards to justify & rationalize it, too.

Please enlighten us to what exactly is your problem with water boarding. Here let me start you off with this, it causes no actual physical pain nor does it leave any permanent scars or marks. You can't die from it, so basically it is a form of mental duress placed upon the subject.

Let me ask you this next, how do you propose that we interrogate terror suspects? Maybe serve them bacon or tickle them until they talk. Seriously I would like to know.

LOL wow... You're the gift that keeps on giving. At least people can see I don't exaggerate in my posts. You've both agreed with indentured servitude & waterboarding in the same thread.

I'm not bored enough to do the research for you, but why don't you do a quick google search of actual investigators & their views of torture. Not the opinions of chickenhawk politicians, but of actual FBI agents and other detectives who interrogate people for a living.

Though here's a quick clip I remember of conservative talk show host Mancow, when he got waterboarded. He used to say the same things you did before this video. Go to 1:50 to see his waterboarding, reaction, and statements after it.

It's kind of hard to believe you're arguing in favor of this. So I might start pretending you're just trolling like beezer. That way, I'll just ignore it & not take it seriously.

The Republican Party is getting to be too extremist. Donald Trump wants to repeal the fourteenth amendment which allows birthright citizenship. This would leave immigrants born here without citizenship to any country, if I am not mistaken, making them an underclass.

These are not humanitarian or intelligent solutions to the problem. They are hardly solutions at all. Is it okay to deal with these things in such a rash fashion just because the majority of illegal immigrants are Hispanic and not white? What happens when the Republican party decides to "solve" other issues in the same rash fashion as this?

it's not bs, it's the truth. that slavery existed outside communism doesn' t mean communism doesn't have the same thing. well, communism as it exists today, not as it is actually described by people who just want to live free and willingly give to each other's benefit.

When Louis Farahkan said that, "everyone lost their freakin' minds", too. There's no difference. People are voicing disagreement. NO ONE is saying that Mickelson should be silenced.

And now, I will voice my disagreement if you don't mind.

To the OP. Damn!

I totally agree with MOMof3 here:

It is the same with the email scandal of Clinton. It has gone beyond the thoughts of reason, now the extremes just froth with hate at just the mention of her name. And all this spills over into our society through our children. Everyone admires the Bully now. Look at Trump.

The hatred, anger and bullying is prominent here on ATS, too. I don't know what has happened to compassion, but it seems to be completely absent from the majority of the right side of the political spectrum today, and Trump is their dream man. When people can honestly tell themselves that slavery OR indentured servitude are reasonable options, it's apparent they think of the would-be slaves as LESSER than themselves. When people can advocate for "taking their children" without consent of the parent, there is no compassion, empathy or respect for the "lesser" human being.

No, it's BS. The topic of the thread is slavery and you have to continue to push some narrative about communism. There is a big difference between a slave and forced labor, and that is what you're actually talking about.

No one has said he doesn't have the right to free speech. He does and I defend his right to say it.

I also have the right to point out his speech and call him a nutbag for saying it. Just as you have the right to point out Farahkan and his lunatic beliefs.

Fair enough.

Not very "free-speechy" if you ask me.

I think people are worried because the person who said this has pull in the Republican party and could realistically represent the sentiment of many Republicans, some of which could realistically hold office and somewhat realistically try to put these policies into place. Sometimes it pays to listen to what people in power have to say to know what they are going to do next.

He has free speech, no one is arguing about that. What we are arguing about is the policy that he presents. I don't think it is a humanitarian policy.
