Well, this is a dangerous precedent to set.

I hope the people of California shut this down.

The current one year plan?

Or the proposed 10 year plan?

Or both?

Both.

This is one of the reasons I believe the second amendment needs to be further defined and should not be up to interpretation by the states to restrict.

In theory, it's a good idea. Imagine an abusive husband and a messy divorce. Threats etc would call for something like this.

But a counter would be to arm the wife!

We just can't look at how a law might be used, we have to look at how it might be abused.

It reminds me of the Everytown advert that was encouraging people to buy a firearm for self defence.

Edited to add: Not entirely sure why, but it's showing two side-by-side videos? How odd.

The role of devils advocate is an important one in a discussion.

That would be scary.. only someone's word? My mother hates me! My sister too!

For others what about pissed off wives.. my husbands ex called the cops on him and lied on the day he was trying to pack his stuff and leave her.. because she was pissed off that he was leaving.. she got him thrown in jail overnight and he had to appear in court in order to clear his name from that..

but they will just take someone's word? No proof or anything? Seriously?

My ex really WAS a threat but I still had to spend two years in court to prove it beyond any shadow of a doubt so as to keep the children safe from him...

but this state will take a man's legally owned guns on the basis of the word of nothing more than a pissed off ex? Or my venomous mother?

Thats messed up!

One more step towards the thought police. Good grief. If they tried to film this and put it on TV as dystopian fiction 30 years ago, people would have thought it was the most comically poorly-written and over-acted script ever. Nobody would have believed any of this stuff could stand the light of day.
